  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Would you buy it again?

I am a huge fan of the Genesis sedan and intend on owning one in the very near future.....love everything about the car!!!
With that being said, I am interested in knowing what current or past owners think and how they feel / if they would make the same decision again to purchase the car.

This is now my 2nd Genesis and with the first genesis being bought back buy Hyundai motor america. i really would think long and very hard about buying another. they have built a very nice car but one of my problems is the service Dept. i now give my car keys to the DPSM and he takes the car in for service. i hope if they could or would change things it would be the service . i have now delt with 4 Dealerships and only 1 is nice;)

Gotcha, over the last 15 months or so I found out just what a group of clowns the service people can be with my BMW. Makes the whole vehicle experience a sour one. Makes me think about buying a Toyota truck so I do not have to deal with too much nonsense as there are not so many bells and whistles with a truck.

I have had quite the opposite experience as Duck2010. My service dept. is excellent, and I am thankful for that.

While I like the Genesis, I really loved my Infiniti M45, and I see a M56 in my future; or possibly the Q series with a V8 when it is out.

I'm voluntarily on my second Genesis and will probably buy another in 2016ish (waiting until the third year of the new model).

8 months into my first genesis. I would buy another one, depending on how the new body style turns out...

That's great! I guess I should have qualified my statement further: at the price I paid for the car, I would buy another one. Nothing can compare for the money.

At MSRP (which will probably be over $50k in a couple of years), I would probably look at other options.

I would but it depends...i'm sure by let's say year 2016 or 2020 something better or newer cars will be on the market...but as far as now yes! :)

OK, so if not the Genesis......What would you buy? That is the big question for me.

Having been a Lexus owner, I am done with them......German cars? Forget it!

So then What?

Why are you done with lexus?

Not as reliable as they used to be. And they rattle like tin cans filled with marbles. My Genesis has been solid however.

Remember the Genesis isn't the only one that is going to increase in cost and even if they added another 3k on the car over the inflation that occurs every year, it would still be worth every penny. You can't touch anything else new or used(with low mileage) for the value you get here.
Lexus has ruined the looks of their vehicles with that Shit eat'n grin of a grill. Used to like the GS but pricey and forget the ES as it is just Blahh blahh blahh and always has been. I thought about buying a preowned BMW 535 but I didn't want to get into the cost of ownership as the miles stack up and having had a Merc E350 I just don't see the big to do for the extra cash they cost let alone again the cost of ownership over time.
I had my Genny in for a 30K service today and it only cost me $250 while the same service for the E class would have run me $400-$500(not worth it)
.

So far, it is a no-brainer. I would buy another one. I am very curious about the 2014. I wish my 2012 had Bluetooth streaming plus a few other minor feature tweaks. The differences that could pull me to a 2014 upgrade are so minor that I am borderline irresponsible (BT streaming, heated steering wheel, cooled passenger seat, soft-close trunk, exterior unlock buttons on all four doors, heads-up display).

Agreed. I was comparing dollars to dollars in today's market. Obviously this will trend upwards in the future. For example, a 2013 R-Spec is MSRP @ $46,800. Right now locally, there is a M56 Sport with 13K on it for asking of $50,788. For even money (compared to MSRP of the R-Spec), there is a 2011 M56 Sport with 26k on it for asking price of $46,999.

Point being, there are low mileage cars out there that can exceed the quality, style, amenities and performance of the Genesis. Don't get me wrong, I am not bashing the car in any way (after all, I bought one!), but there are alternatives.

The only Lexus I would consider would be the LS460, but they want stupid money for a used one with 50k on the clock; about the same as a new R-Spec!

I am with you on German cars; I will stay away. The initial cost, plus the maintenance, are prohibitive compared to the Genesis or M56.

What makes you think an infinity would be a better car than the Genesis? I'd take the Genesis any day! I'm not impressed with Infinity. I test drove an M. Cramped!

Um, because I've owned one? Is that a good reason? ;) Quality of materials used in construction is the glaring difference, and should be; given the MSRP price difference when new. For example, the leather on the driver's seat looked better at 72,000 miles than the leather in the Genesis at 700 miles.

I'm not sure where you get "cramped" from; the interior room specifications are virtually the same. Perhaps you drove a G?

I drive a 2011 and my wife drives a 2012 both 4.6. That answers your question. I can't comment about the service departments too much as both of mine are salvage vehicles so we do all the fixing ourselves but the guys in parts are awesome at St. Charles Hyundai in Missouri.

I have had most of Nissan from year of 2000-2003-2006. and also a 2006 nissan 350z. if i could get a genesis say a 2014 for what i bought my 2nd genesis for $ 23,000 then i would be all over it. but i do think the price will be over $50,000 and i will never spend that much on a hyundai. i would have to say at this point my next car would be a 2013 cadillac xts.
