  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm not throwing my Garmin away!

As far as I know, it has to be done by the dealer. Price ~$200.00

btw.

:welcome: to the forum!

I believe that the 2013 w/Tech pkg & the 2013 R-Spec ARE user upgradeable when the updates are released. You can download the update manual from the Mapnsoft website. The update is supplied on a USB memory stick.

Yes Sir, that is correct, but for updating maps you'll need to go see "stealer" ;)

Personally, I'll skip this year, no need to spend $200 each year, at least for me.

OMG! I missed that page on the web site. Thanks for the correction. When I saw the banner that advertized a $99 price, I assumed it was user upgradeable.

Guess you didn't read the caveat there.

"Note : Some of map updates may require you to visit a dealer for installation."

I did not found the caveat that you referred to on the www.hyundai-gpsmap.us website. I did not visit every available page, but I did not find it on the pages that applied to my 2013 R-Spec.

I used the "Chat live" feature to ask whether the update is "owner installable" or "dealer installed". I was told by online agent Chevas (after he checked his resources) that the update IS owner installable.

I also called the Contact Us phone#. (Note-the phone# shown on the website did not connect, so I used the # from the mapnsoft site). The agent I spoke to confirmed that the update IS owner installable. She told me that lots of people have ordered it. She also told me that the www.hyundai-gpsmap.us website is a new website.

So, I set up a New Account on the website. They ask for your VIN and Device ID as part of the setup. After that, I put the update for my Genesis in the "Cart" and ordered it. It will be shipped via FedEx Ground and should arrive in about a week or less. I'll try to keep you posted to let you know how the delivery and installation goes.

Just got the FedEx tracking #. Delivery scheduled for Friday, June 6.

I just noticed that this thread is in the "Coupe" area, but ALL respondents (like me) are Sedan owners. Oh well, I guess that's what happens when you use the "New Posts" link at the top.

Sounds good! :)

I'm sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, GPS updates should be free to the customer as long as the car is under warranty. Things like this ($99 or $200), or free GPS update costs is something that may pi$$ a customer off or may keep them coming back for another Genesis. ARE YOU LISTENING, HYUNDAI USA??
