If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

On the Genesis Coupe I owned, I had base brakes (Single piston fronts and rears) and it sucked. Back then I grabbed a front set of four piston calipers off of a 2009 4.6 Sedan and it was pretty much a bolt-on affair. Much improved braking. I never did the rear, as it required a new caliper and mounting bracket to accommodate the slightly thicker (And vented!) Sedan rotor and I did not think that little difference would of done much.

However, on the front, I was limited to Sedan pads and Sedan rotors and over time found the choices quite lacking.

Fast forward to today, and I'm getting ready for the Sedan's maiden voyage on the Tail of the Dragon in April and wanted better brakes. So what did I do?

Yup, I went out and bought Brembo calipers off of a Genesis Coupe. Here's why:

- Much larger pad and rotor selection
- Monoblock design
- Lighter than the front Mando 4-piston calipers (Reduced unsprung weight!)
- Slightly larger diameter rotors (10mm larger on front, but 4 lbs lighter each! 16mm larger on the rear, but 4 lbs heavier each)
- Clears factory 18" wheels
- Looks damn good

Front fitment is guaranteed, rear I'm not sure of (Since I never did the Sedan rears on my Coupe). Over the coming weeks we will see.

SICK! Tell me how it goes...I just put brakes on my genny...felt like I was wasting time..no crossdrilled/slotted rotors...

So the coupes brembos fit the sedan? You need the coupes brembos rotors For the front of the Sedan?

Yes you need calipers, rotors and pads from the donor car. More than likely only one of the two screws that secure the rotor to the hub, when the wheels are off, will be able to be used per rotor, as was the case with my Coupe.

Can you do me a favor and measure from the face of the caliper to the face of the mounting location? Essentially how wide is the caliper. Pic attached since my question doesn't have the best wording. Interested in what backspacing is required to clear these brakes.

There is a great thread about this conversion on the coupe with some information about what sedan parts are interchangeable.

4.24" is the closest measurement I get

One of the rear calipers arrived today, the bolt holes line up:

Awesome, subscribed. If everything could be a clean swap over, might have to pursue this myself as well.

Cool project - great to know the fronts will clear OEM wheels. Please let us know if it's the same case in the rear!

Thanks again, helps me confirm back spacing for the new wheels if I decide to go this route. In for the actual conversion.

So the Brembo front calipers are 4.24" wide, and the rears are 3.7".....does anyone happen to know the width of the OEM front 4-pots and rear brakes? I'm curious how much extra clearance is required for the Brembos.

I can check the rear measurement, as I still have an OE Sedan rear caliper at the shop.

For the fronts, I don't think that will be an issue and let me tell you why.

When I put the Sedan front calipers on my Coupe, I needed a spacer on my Coupe 18" wheels, as the spokes hit the caliper, not much of a spacer, about 5mm. Now the Coupe Brembos clear the Coupe 18" wheels without a spacer, so therefore the Sedan calipers are a good bit fatter. So whatever wheels you have now, if they clear your factory Sedan 4-pot, you will gain some more clearance with Brembos.

Thanks for the great info on the fronts....please let us know what you find on the rears!

I'm liking your pioneering. Question: do you think the sedan calipers being fatter might mean they bite stronger? I'm curious because I wanted to do this mod but the 4.6 weighs a good deal more and I was wondering if the Brembos would hold up. In the coupe forums you seemed to favor the sedan calipers a bit over the Brembos.

Pictures of caliper depth for front and rear OEM brakes. Measurements taken with calipers on the car.

OEM Front=3.365" Brembo Front=4.24" Difference of .875"
OEM Rear=2.65" Brembo Rear=3.7" Difference of 1.05"

Not sure I understand why you needed a spacer based on the measurements both of us have supplied. Did we measure the same distance?

^Not sure about you guys, but I have Gen coupe wheels (stagger fr 8in rear 8.5in) and I couldn't use the fronts without using a spacer. The spoke kept smacking the the caliper. The 8.5in all around clears no problem though.
