If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Navigation system software update

Interesting! If the maps haven't changed, then everything that was done is in the realm of bug fixes, and thus free. The map upgrade, when available, will probably cost money, just like everywhere else. :(

The navigation was updated today and it seem to have resolved the problem I was having with the voice activation button on the steering wheel. The voice button would only work some of the time. It was not working when I arrived at the dealership.

I thought I was the only one having a problem with the voice activation. I have not had the "fix" yet. Hopefully it will in fact fix this problem.

Had this TSB done yesterday. Still shows a date of 4-26-08. Just like Viking said it reset all the audio and cleared out the few phone numbers I had stored. I didn't use the voice actvation very much but apparently it'll work better for me now :D

If I remember right when I first got the Genesis I was able to go into the address book and there was a place to change the icons for your favorites if you wanted to. The Nav system had a problem every time I tried to do it but the option was there. Now when I put in the addresses I got to the screen where you can modify or look at the info and when I move the knob it jumps around the icon box so I don't even have the option to change it. Is this part of the update or am I missing a step somewhere?

Sounds to me if it ain't broke don't fix it. I have no problems with my tech package, and nobody is seeing any feature enhancements. I don't want to reprogram all my radio presets and phone address book.

cdango,

Just curious, did you try adjusting the icon while in Park or Drive? I think I remember that some options are not available to change while you are in drive..

I tried in both park and drive. I know there are some adjustments you can't do while you are moving or in drive, but I'm not sure if the few times I was able to get to that screen in the past whether or not I was in park.

BTW Viking, I was wondering if you saw my post regarding the installation of the rear speaker cover in the trunk? I noticed you are one of the people who had it done recently and I had a few questions. If you could look at my post on that subject and maybe pass on any info you might have that would be great.

Thanks

Do you guys think this update contains any bluetooth updates. I haven't been able to get my phone to work on the bluetooth system. Well, actually it works but I can't hear any audio when I make or receive a phone call.

Can someone get hold of the CDs so we can do this ourselves ?

I've been on the phone with several people this week, including the service mgr at my dealership, and I absolutely CANNOT find out what's on the change list for this software upgrade. Given the fact that the upgrade wipes out all owner-loaded data, and since I'm not personally suffering with any functional issues, I've decided to not get this upgrade tomorrow as planned. It's just not worth it to me to reload my phonebook & nav data plus redo all the audio settings for an undefined benefit.

I'm not much for conspiracy theories, but I'm amazed and somewhat troubled by the fact that this simple question is apparently unanswerable. The last card I've got to play is my brother-in-law, who's the GM of the dealership I bought from. I'll meet with him tomorrow and see if there's anything he can do through contacts he may have at HMA.

Since we're fortunate to have a few other dealers on this forum, perhaps they can provide some insight as to what this upgrade covers. What say you, Frank/Ed Voyles or Priority VA? What's lurking on those disks?

How do I get said update? Do I call the dealer? I am to take my car on 12/2/08 for a first service appointment! Can I inquire then, or ask ahead of time? Do you know the price for said service and update?

Thanks,

Flex59

Flex: Just inquire about Service Campaign T-63. It's free and will take about an hour and a half. They either have the discs, or they don't. Everyone should have them in by now.

Maps are provided by http://www.mapnsoft.com/. They provide maps for all the US Hyundai/Kia navigation systems.

Not sure who these guys are, but they DO NOT have Genesis map software. The underlying system in the Genesis is provided by NAVTEQ, and is integrated by Harmon/Kardon into the DIS system. Genesis map updates, so far, are only available through the dealers. ;)

They are the official US Hyundai map update provider. They provide maps for all the US hyundai nav systems. M&Soft could get the data from navteq and Harman. They could just be a reseller of maps for Hyundai navigation systems.

Edit: They mention the genesis in the search the latest update.

Has anyone with a V8 had this done? If so, can you verify the version number? I'm having audio issues and my dealership insists this campaign was already applied even though the TSB is dated 11/4 and I picked up the car on 10/23. Just trying to see if it applies to the V8's.

Thanks!

The applicable VINs are in the TSB. ;)

Ok, so since the VINs in the TSB are all V6 only, that means the TSB only applies to the V6's? I saw someone else ask the question about the fact that the TSB showed V6 VINs only, so I just wanted to verify.

Hmmm... Reading back through the thread, I think one person (Bear) had the update applied and he has a V8 I think, so the TSB VIN numbers don't seem to take into account the 46F for V8's? Unless Bear was incorrectly stating he had the update applied, or I'm wrong about him having a V8. :)

Just not sure how it works, and it is not clear in the TSB as they use 3.8 sample VINs. However, what I think they are getting at is the sequence number, the last 5 digits. That indicates the order the car came off the line, whether 3.8 or 4.6. After a certain seq#, the updates were installed at the factory. I'm still not going to have it done until they fess up to what they are changing/fixing.

If the SEQ# is important, than mine is part of it. I'll have to go back to the dealership on Monday.

The problem I'm having is that at least every other day, when I startup the car, anything dealing with audio does not work - XM, Radio, Phone, Voice command button, etc. Bluetooth connects just fine, and the phone options work to dial and such, but no sound comes out of the system. I have to turn off the car, lock it, wait a few minutes (for the car to truly shutdown) and hope that it starts up correctly. I haven't been able to get it to the dealership in "non-working" order, so right now they don't really believe me. I'm hoping my problem is centered around the DIS/NAV update, but since the dealership's computer tells them that the campaign has already been run on my car, they won't look at the car's version numbers - Even though I've already verified them (via the TSB) as been older.

Regardless, I'll let you know if I have any better luck on Monday. I'm also hoping that the audio system fails during a time that I can drive right over to prove to them I'm not insane. :)
