In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Solution! LED DRL's and LED turn signals

The look of the original lights depend on trim level. On base levels without HIDs (e.g. halogen projectors) the inner light has to be the high beam, so the LED surround is the turn signal and DRL. So it's amber.

The post is referencing models with HIDs where the LED surround is white and the inside light is amber. I agree with him, it's a little odd to have amber DRLs. This mod makes the DRLs white except when needed for signalling.

dthoma2: I completely agree, this is the way Hyundai should have done it from the factory!

On the '15 base model the turn signals are amber LEDs. The DRLs are not amber but are warm white bulbs that share the high beam housing (one bulb).

The VLeds don NOT require 3 wires although their 1157 adapter has them. The logic in their control box handles the 2 wire setup. When there is constant voltage, the white LED is on. When there is intermittent voltage(turn signals), the amber LED's blink. It is truly plug and play.

Thanks. I'll need to take another crack at it. I never could get it to light at all. I know the Genny sees the module side with the VLED connected, thee on/off rate matches the other side, but the VLED doesn't light (fuse in or out).

BTW- I can get it to light white on external 12vdc

EDIT- figured it out. Power needs to go to BOTH the white and the amber terminals of the 1157 adapter, simultaneously. Then, when the power is switched on/off, it turns amber and flashes. When the power is constant, the controller switches the output to white. I'll need to modify the 1157 adapter slightly, but it will work. Thanks for the lead that got me to this point.

Solution!!!!
It ends up that my LEFT ( driver) turn signal is wired BACKWARDS!!!! and that, being the easy one, was the one I was testing with. Seriously... The 'barrel' of a light is always negative and the bottom of the bulb is always positive. We'll guess what, the left turn signal housing is the opposite of that, but the right one is correct!! So... A little rewiring of the VLED harness and all is good.

As has been said, the right light is a royal PAIN to get to. A brace needs to be removed and the air intake box needs two bolts removed and kind of pushed out of the way, just to get to the round hatch that covers the light housing access.

All wiring, driver, everything fit into the light housing.

This is the left socket that is wired backwards. It took me putting a meter on it to figure it out.

This dhows the modified VLED wiring harness.

The VLED in place. All re remaining harness simply stuffs inside the housing, then replace the round hatch cover.

Lousy shot, but it shows the assembled VLED with the collar, 3 screws, and a medium thickness rubber gasket in place. The kit has several gasket choices, but the medium worked best.

Right side... First remove the crash brace (2 bolts)

Loosen these 2 bolts that hold the air box in place and push it out of the way (twd the engine).

It is tight, but the arrow shows where the hatch is to get into the light housing.

Here's the right side with everything in place, before reinserting the hatch.

End result!

Looks great!!! Yes the passenger side really is PITA. I just finished swapping out my genesis stock HID bulbs for OSRAM CBI bulbs. Had to remove the front cover, support bar, air filter box.

How do you like these vled tritons? I know most switchback LEDs are pretty bright in white mode but what about amber? Are they as bright as regular amber bulbs?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Looks good. Can't wait to do mine to see white on white. I'll probaly place the order tonight.

So, did you have to make a hole on the dust covers?

I love the VLEDs Lou. The amber is as bright as the incandescent bulbs. The switchback is a LITTLE slow, but going from white to amber only takes one flash cycle. Amber to white seems to take an extra beat, but it is a VERY little item.

If you have done the HIDs, then you have conquered the hard bit. I DID need to add a short wire between the two solder points on the bottom of the adapter since my light socket was uncooperative, but your milage may vary ;)

No hole needed! Everything fit nice inside the housing. No muss no fuss ;)

Thank you! I def will be ordering this in near future. I didnt want to drill holes on dust covers but when you said everything fits inside the housing sealed the deal.

EDIT: I believe these tritons comes with control boxes for each bulbs. They fit inside our housings?

Yes! The control box, all wiring... Everything fit inside. It's rather roomy inside the housing. Taking off the driver side round hatch is simple. You might twist it off and explore to get comfortable with it.

Thank you! I wanted to make sure bc they usually dont give us lot of space to work on under the hood. I'll be ordering my set soon.

EDIT: Interesting! You're right about having plenty of space in there. But.. I have these VLED switchbacks...
http://www.vleds.com/shop-bulb-numb...r-led-turn-signal-bulbs-1157-2057-1-pair.html
which I took off from my previous car. No hyper flash without resistors! I'll be using these in the mean time. I never liked their amber brightness in my older car but maybe these will have better luck in our genesis reflectors.
LoL I'm excited!

EDIT:: So... there's no hyper flash with no resistors installed. Thats the good news. The bad news is... I can't get them to light up in white mode when I switch to DRL on mode. They just light up amber. Plus I'm not thrilled with the brightness in amber mode. Looks like I'll be ordering these vled tritons.

EDIT:: VLED 6k Switchback ordered.

Thanks folks for all the up to date great info on the LEDs and performance. Big help.

Can someone take a video showing the turn signals from 100'+ away both daytime and night please? I'd like to know how quickly that light output is diminishing.

Thanks :)

Thank you for that video!
Did you change the focus on triton or did you install them as is?

Nope. I left it alone ( screwed all the way in).

I got my tritons installed and so far I like them. These LEDs bulbs def makes better use out of our housing reflectors compared to any LED systems out there. Later tonight I'll play with focus to see if I can make it even better.
Thanks again guys.

EDIT: Oh and I didnt have any problems with wiring. It was all plug and play.

Got mine yesterday. Will probably instal over the weekend. Hopefully I dont run into wiring issues.

Ah son of a... I forgot about labor day! VLEDS is having labor day sale ... 20% off.
