  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone.
I just learn that our 15 genesis with HID uses D1S bulbs for HID. This made me very happy bc I already have a pair of OSRAM 5500K CBI D1S bulbs which were taken out of my trade in car.

On my 3.8 Genny... I noticed that its very easy to reach the back of housing on the driver side but the passenger side is blocked by air filter box and that box is secured by a black metal bar. Does anyone have experience taking out the air filter box? Do I have to somehow remove that bar in order to reach the back of the housing?

Thank you.

Very easy...you must remove the black plastic cover..push pins first...push center button and the are easy to remove...the black bar support bars are 2 bolts...the aire cleaner is one bolt to loosen on intake and then lift up and out.

Thank you so much dthomas2! I will be swapping out my bulbs tonight. I'll post some comparason pictures if anyones interested.

OK So I was able to access the headlight housing and boy... this bulb swap is going to be harder than I thought. These bulbs are secured inside those housing by U shaped plates with 2 screws. Not clips. Most likely have to remove the housing to get them swaps.

Have you change your bulbs? Some time it is faster to remove the bumper and remove headlight housing. Please advise.

I was able to change oem HID bulbs to OSRAM CBI bulbs successfully. I gave up on removing that U shaped plate so what I did was... removed one screw that I was able to reach then bent the plate back. Once the bulbs are changed, "unbend" the plate and screw in. Pretty simple once I got over the fear of bending that plate. Just dont loose that screw and get a short Philips screw driver.
