If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Has anyone had experience with these spray coatings? Seem almost too good to be true. If so, any recommendations?
(....Sorry for the repeat post....don't know how to delete one.....)

Are you talking about tint films, or a clear spray coating?

A lot of people (including myself) have after-market tint films on our Genesis windows that are nano-ceramic.

If you are talking about a spray, can you provide a link?

Mark, I'm referring to a spray for tithe car body AND Windows....saw a link on the forum ..will try's to attach...

Except for the front clip (which is covered with Xpel) the rest of my car is coated with Optimum Opticoat.

Car is 3 years old and finish still beads and looks amazing.

I went to the Opticoat website, and they didn't say anything about nano-ceramic in the product that I could see. There are several threads about Opticoat, and seems to be a very good product.

I did some googling for "nano ceramic coatings" and found this:

"First, let’s look at these names from the most literal stand point. If we we’re to actually be coating the exterior of our cars with glass or ceramic, what would be the result through the basic functions of the body of the car? The body of the car flexes as it drives, as the heat and cold play their part on the chemistry of the metal (hot metal can bend more while cold metal is more stiff). If our cars were coated with glass and ceramics, two very rigid materials that lack the ability to be flexible, it wouldn’t take long for the coating to crack and break.

Second, it’s clearly just a metaphor to explain how durable of a protection you’re getting. There’s no denying, a durable and long lasting product is great! Just forewarning you though, many of these products are not a one stop shop! These 7 year warranty coatings are only valid if you can verify you’ve reapplied the product every year or two and washed the car once a month."

So, it "appears" that term nano-ceramic is a "metaphor" to convey that the spray coating is durable, not that it actually contains nano-ceramics. Sort of like Castrol Synthetic Titanium motor oil. Turns out that it has "titanium strong polymers" (a metaphor), not that it actually contains titanium metals.

I think I would go with the Opticoat for two reasons:
  • Several members have used it and recommended it.
  • They don't use "metaphors" to try and deceive people.

...this is what I've seen....offers a video of application to a G2 Trunk.....interesting.....

Look for CarCare Hydro2 spray to see the video....
"The Hydro2 product doesn't mention anything about nano-ceramic:
"CarPro Hydro2 Touchless Silica Sealant is formulated with hydrophilic glass fibers, silicon polymers, and fluoropoylmers"

However, the CarPro CQuartz product does:
"CarPro CQuartz is a ceramic nano coating that is anti-static and hydrophobic. It seals the surface from moisture and protects again UV degradation. CQuartz is extremely advanced and works to transform and bond itself to the paint. Once treated, your vehicle will have a nearly impenetrable layer of protection that repels water and contaminates. One application can last as long as two years!"

If it is "nearly impenetrable" it should last longer than 2 years.:D. I don't recall of any one this forum ever mentioning such a product.

Thanks for your input, Mark. This HydrO2 Lite spray seems like such a breeze to apply regardless of the chemistry and technology.......it's what I was gravitating toward but am in no hurry to be a pioneer with it on my black G2....will hope for some input from those who have used it...thanks, again.

For 109 dollars every 2 years you could have paid for xpel clear bra that last 10. It seems like it does the job of a good coat of wax.

Covering the entire car in Xpel would be in the thousands. It's a ton of labor.

I have mentioned CQuartz multiple times as that is what is on my Shelby Gt500 and my wife's Cayenne. The only reason it is not on the Genesis is because of the liquid wrap and the issues it would cause with that being applied. It is a wonderful product.

What issues are you talking about?

Cquartz would not allow the autoflex liquid wrap to properly bond to the paint. Before a car is prepped for autoflex there can be no wax or other coatings on the paint. I knew I was going to wrap the car when I bought it so Cquartz was not applied to the entire car and windshield as is it on the GT500 and Cayenne.

Clear bra

Yes Xpel is a brand. Have you priced out installing a clear bra?
This is not a wax which degrades after time in the elements. It's "basically" another layer of clear coat which is rock hard and can take the punishment of harsh sun, winter, and minor scuffs and scrapes and leave the factory clear unharmed. After several years the coating can be polished off and new applied. I'm at 3 years and it shows no need to be redone.

Xpel is a great product as well. I would definitely go with it if you plan on having the car for long period of time.

Agree 100%
A polymer won't protect the front clip from rock chips.

Some shots of the wife's cayenne with the cquartz
