  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis LED Trunk Module - $59.95

@ KAI

Tired of that dull yellowish bulb look? Brighten your trunk's interior with this vibrant high quality long lasting super bright LED module set. Sure to set your trunk apart from the crowd. Installs in minutes, and will be enjoyed for years!

Geez, I have no willpower whatsoever! I just ordered the LED pkgs for both the rear license and trunk. If my wife balks, I'm gonna blame Flex and Ric!

I also have the chrome strips and rear wing badge to install. Once these four mods are done, I'd better take a break if I want to stay married. Oh wait, I still need to buy snow tires! Sorry, honey...

I'll post photos as soon as everything arrives and is installed. I suppose I'll have to try some night shots of the LEDs...

Flex59, Musher51-

How did you install these? I ordered them but when I removed the covers above my plate I saw a cylinder-shaped bulb that looks nothing like the flat part from KAI.

Sorry, Faizal, but you'll have to wait for Flex to reply. Since I had my car in for an oil change and door seal repair, I had the dealer install mine, so I can't tell you how it's done. I'm surprised to hear that the fixture isn't standard between the two parts, though, which may be an issue for me when the LED trunk kit arrives, as I intend to install that myself.

LOL, you guys are like kids souping up your toys! Enjoy!:D

Baywayric: Yes, I bought the LED backlights through KAI. They look incredible and pretty much at home. Glad I did!

Faizal: Pretty much get a pair of plier and hold the new LED by the sides and carefully place it between the two brackets-like. Let me tell you its' a bitch (excuse my French). I hope this helps, because believe me they are worth it!

Redrocks: LOL! Well, that is the price of beauty!?

What's notable is that, as a rule, I'm not really that much of a 'car guy'. That said, my last two cars were special orders from the BMW factory in Munich, and I do have an appreciation for thoughtful engineering and precision manufacturing. (I lead product development teams in the disk drive industry, which is an uber-tech business that tends NOT to be rewarded much by Wall Street, but is cutting-edge nonetheless.)

But there's something about this Genesis...even after seven weeks, I still smile as I get behind the wheel of this car. Between the smooth ride, mellow voice commands, laid-back layout of the controls, KICK-ASS audio, intrinsicly-pretty exterior design (not to mention a number of carefully-deliberated aftermarket mods), this car continues to exceed my expectations at every turn (figuratively and literally).

I can't help but chuckle as I read the venomous comments about the Hyundai corporation that invariably follow any and all on-line reviews of this car. Man, some people take this stuff WAY too seriously! For my part, I'm still on the look-out for another vehicle that offers all this content for a comparable amount of money. So far, I can't see anything that's even in the neighborhood of Genesis 'value-wise', and I challenge any reader to disabuse me of my errant thinking, if you can.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying you new Genesis. Yes, the Genesis will be Car of the Year! Now that the bar has been reset, let's see how Honda, Toyota and Nissan change in the face of the Genesis.

Whatever you do, DON'T put a big ass spoiler on the Genesis. The car emotes too much luxury and elegance to bear a crazy pair of wings!

Not sure if they're compatible, but for $5, you can afford to take a chance and see...

Thanks Flex59. I got over the different look of the bulb and installed it as you mentioned -- looks great!

I didn't take pics of the "before" but here are some "after" pics
