If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yo Guy's

Woke up this morning to 2inches of snow

Hiha!!! Time to try the new tires

I had installed a set of 18" Yokohama W.Drive on the original 18" wheels

They look great!

Well I got to try them and it is AWESOM

The car starts whith out any sliding and it stops on a dime

Could not get the rear tail to drift at all

What a great drive

Will be trying in deeper snow tomorow since they call for 4 to 6 inches

Will let you know

CIAO :D

Thank you for letting us know! Hopefully this will be the kind of thing we hear a lot this winter...

That is great to hear. We got some wet slush here just North of Toronto today, and my 3.8l was damn near undriveable on the factory tires. Any gas at all and the ESC kicked in. Even the ESC couldn't stabilize a slight powerslide I induced, and I had to get out of it the old-fashionedd way with countersteer and off the gas. The ABS lit up if I so much as thought about braking.

The best part is I am doing exactly the same as jake the snake - W.Drive's on the factory 18" wheels (so I can put 19" or 20"s on in the summer) so it's good to know that will be better.

The tires are actually in the car today, to be installed tomorrow :o

Jake - you have my car! Titanium/black 3.8l, wings and wheels on order, tint to be done shortly, Yokos on the factory wheels. I skipped on the tech pack tho'. I'm thinking about the chrome door pillars and body trim, as well as some LED upgrades (scuff plates 4 sure).

The Geneis 4.6 has made my short list of cars for a purchase in the following month.

Can you share anymore wisdom or opinions about winter driving with the Genesis? Are you still enchanted about the winter performance. I am in the West Island.

Going to get BLIZZAKS on all 4 corners. Not about to take chances, plus save on life of the regular tires.

For those who go with a set of snows and wheels, how is the best way to store the wonderful Dunlop OEMs (upright, flat ...) when off the vehicle?

Just came home with the 4.6 and turned in my Saab 9-5 Aero wagon. My last five cars have been Saab's, but they don't lease anymore so hello Genesis! I spend a fair amount of time on the road and need to be mobile at all times. Coming from a history of front wheel drive cars, I'm concerned about the snow with the new ride. Jake the Snake started this thread by stating how great the car was in < 2" and I was looking for his follow up on > 2"?

Any continued thoughts on driving the Genesis in snow?
Should I invest in snows and wheels?

I'll be picking up new rims and snows for sure. Not taking chances considering the terrible winters we have had here in Southern Ontario this past 2 seasons.

I was looking at the Blizzak LM-22's. Amyone have any experience with these?

I have a piece of ply wood which I stack the tires on, I over-inflate to 36 PSI during storage. (I only stack 2 tires high)

There is at least one other thread with extensive postings about how the Genesis handles in snow, info on snow tire options, etc. So I'd recommend a little more searching in the archives to avoid repeating a subject that's been aired out a lot. But the short reply is: as long as you pull the Dunlops and install a good snow tire, your car will handle any reasonable amount of snow just fine. I've been driving RWD BMWs for a long time, and I found the Genesis (with a set of Blizzaks, in my case) to be just as competent as any other make, and I put on >10K miles on my car last winter.

Yes. There are a lot of old posts on this topic, too, but I've used LM-22s on a couple of BMWs and I was very fond of them. When I searched tirerack.com for snow tires for the Genesis last year, LM-60s popped up. I can't recall the intrinsic difference between the two Blizzak models, but I bought the 60s and they performed just as well as the 22s did on my other cars. Regardless of where you buy your tires, I'd recommend spending some time reading the reviews on tirerack.com. Lotsa good info there.

Love my Genesis. Amateur about cars. Should I be buying rims and tires for my 4.6? Or, only tires? I have 18". The dealership wanted to sell me tires and rims for $1600 CAN. Not sure what tires they were (presume dunlop?). taking all suggestions.

Whether you end up deciding on tires or wheel package, I have just been VERY well served by TireRack. No surprise customs charges, just competitive pricing and all costs in, all known before hand.

Agreed. It is hard to beat TireRacks prices on wheels and tires. Always get both when buying snows. It saves wear and tear on the rims, makes it more likely that you will change them at the right time, and the rims pay for themselves after a few seasons.

Tire dealer told me to store them flat...........

That is how I store them. I also put the winter tires in trash bags to reduce their exposure to ozone and UV light. The bags filter out the UV and reduce the air exchange and therefore the ozone exposure. Ozone and UV is what causes oxidation (dry rot.) Tires have antioxidants in them to prevent dry rot. These chemicals are only released when the tires flex. This doesn't happen when they are stored and it is why you will find old tires, that have been sitting without use, with cracks in the surface. The winter tires sit longer, and it is especially important for them to stay soft since that is one reason they work better than summer tires.
