  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After much research I picked up a set of snows for my 2012 Genesis 3.8 Sedan w/ technology package. This information might be useful to others who are looking to do the same, but especially for other Canadians.

Please note these will not fit on the R-Spec, but should fit any of the 2009-2013 Genesis 3.8 (any trim).

All of this was purchased at Canadian Tire, so anyone in Canada should be able to duplicate the setup.

RIMS - Touren TR3 17x7 5x114.3 Black w/ Machined Face +40mm

$124.99 each

These are Canadian Tire Item Number 0418396

http://www.thewheelgroup.com/store/catalog/product/view/id/68845/

These resemble the factory R-Spec Rims to a degree and have a nice overall look.

TIRES - Michelin X-Ice Xi3 235/55 R17 (please note: everywhere I looked says to use 225/55 R17 which would be right for the base 3.8 with 17" rims, but this will not match the OEM tire Diameter for the 3.8 with 18" stock rims. I suggest the above size to match the OEM for those coming from original 18" equipment)

$215 each (plus a $70 mail in rebate when a set of 4 are purchased). This is the best price I could find. Balancing extra.

You will also need a spline kit part 5735K5 for $37.69 and Hub Ring Kit part HR72-6715-4 for $9.99

I haven't driven much, but these are the smoothest and quietest winter tires I have ever had. They are almost as smooth as the stock Michelin tires. With the smaller rims they are also softer over bumps as expected. They track perfectly straight just like my stock wheel/tire combo. I will update this review once I have driven them in a good snow.

Here is a pic of them on the car:

Good morning stuofsci02.

I live in Toronto, 2012 Genesis with Premium option and planning to buy new rims and winter tires in the next few days. The rims you listed look great and certainly the tires as well. I just looked both up on the Cdn. Tire website and the rims were exactly the same price as you indicated, but the same tires in the 235/55 R17 size, were $235/tire. Just wondered are you in Ontario / GTA?

Yes I live in Port Perry ON, which is where the Canadian Tire I purchased from is.

Yes, the tires are $235 list. I negotiated with them to get this price (they agreed right away). You should have no trouble doing the same since Costco lists the tires at $217.99 on their website.. Note that if you get the tires from Costco the $70 mail in rebate (which I think has expired now) is not available since they have the rebate automatically taken of the tire price at checkout (-$17.50 per tire).

I just put mine on (live in Montreal)... DAMN those front calipers on the 4.6....
Good luck finding 17" rims to fit over those. need 17X7.5 with 35 MM offset. Good luck finding them under 200$. Had to bite the bullet and get some 18's. All good though. Gives me an excuse to get aftermarket rims come summer ;)
Enjoy the winter, eh

I know this is a bit old, but has anyone tried these TR3 tires on the second generation (DH) Genesis or the G80?

Edit: I just configured.
Configurator | Touren

Looks like their selection is limited for 19" wheels.

The 3.8 version might be able to go with this configuration though.
