A lot of the 2015 new genesis' owners in Saudi Arabia have a problem that causes a fear of driving their cars which can lead to serious accidents and damage to the car.

There is a huge number of the new genesis' owners has a problem with the original tires that come from the factory, where some of the owners exposure to tires explosion cases or deformations in the tires which cause damage to the car.

This problem made the owners afraid of using their cars for their safety. When affected owners went to the Hyundai dealers and they asked for checking the tires, they are directed to the Dunlop tires dealer who said that the hyundai dealers are responsible for this problem because of poor storage of the tires.
All affected cars that you will see them in the pictures below , they did not even take a distance of 25 thousands Km.

In addition, we have not heard before about a similar problem to the genesis 2015 in other countries , so there is no doubt that the problem is not in the car, but in its poor storage whether from the main factory before sending it to the Saudi market or from the Hyundai dealers.

We hope from Hyundai to intervene sooner and follow this problem that have affected more owners of Genesis 2015 in Saudi Arabia.

Holy crap. That's insane!

Dare I ask?
Are those Hankook tires ?

I don't think so - In the second picture, the tire is clearly marked - it's a Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT.

Re: The problem of 2015 enesis' tires in Saudi Arabia

Failures look to be related to failure due to heat and maybe high speed driving. At what speed did the tires fail? Were any cars driven at speeds in excess of 130mph for extended periods of time?

Does not surprise me with Dunflops. Plus the fact that Saudi sees temps north of 120F on a regular basis. I wonder why they went with the Duns in Saudi? The gen 1 also had factory Duns on it and they were one of the wrost tires I have ever had on a car. I really hope they fix this mess and quickly. That mess almost makes the Firestone saga look like a fairy tale.

Damn! Makes me worried for my Saudi Genesis too! I wonder if I should get them swapped. I haven't been happy with them from the start; they transmit quite a bit of road noise. But this issue takes the cake!

Re: The problem of 2015 enesis' tires in Saudi Arabia

I would spend the money and get new tires to replace the Dunlops, regardless of tread left. I would also consider getting a higher tire speed rating than the OEM's, due the heat of the roads. Since the average daily high temps in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia are about 108F-109F in summer, on a sunny day the pavement is probably a lot hotter than that.

This is not a Genesis or Hyundai related problem. This is a simple matter of defective tire manufacturing unable to hold up to the extreme heat of Saudi which is obviously causing delamination at high speeds evident from the pictures of the tires and damage to the vehicle. All Genesis in North America are delivered with Hankook tires as well as KDM. Saudi Arabia may be the only place they are delivered with the Dunlops. Someone needs to be investigated as to why this was done. Who knows, Maybe Hankook was not rated for the extreme heat and they went with something else which obviously failed.

Seems like the problems are coming off of the rear tires which I believe are the standard much wider tires only found on the North American 5.0 275/35 19. This wider tires seems to be used on ALL trims of the Saudi Genesis offered in Saudi Arabia, even the 3.3. The extra width is not helping the centrifugal forces wanting to rip it apart however a tire should be designed and tested to easily withstand this.

Bottom line is there is a manufacturing defect in the Dunlop tire used IMHO.

Re: The problem of 2015 enesis' tires in Saudi Arabia

One thing I noticed is that the OEM tire appears to have some tread missing, as if they have a lot of miles on them. To have that many miles on a tire that is relatively new, they must have been driving a lot on highways, probably at very high speeds.

Re: The problem of 2015 Genesis' tires in Saudi Arabia

Dungflops.... Goodyear own them? If so, they should fire all the French. They are horrible on base Genesis. Sorry to hear about your problems. And thanks for the warnings.

Re: The problem of 2015 Genesis' tires in Saudi Arabia

They are also using the Dunlops in the UAE... But never heard of such issues before on any tires here. Typical speeds are 85 mph on the highways and unless your tires are under inflated or old and cracked which usually takes at least 2 years in this climate there shouldn't be any risk from such events. Seems like a manufacturing defect, hope they fix it before they deliver mine in November.

Re: The problem of 2015 Genesis' tires in Saudi Arabia

I think it could be the way how they drive in Saudi Arabia.
Check this video on YouTube, and there is a lot of it about how Saudi Arabians drive.

If we went by how cars are driven by country based on youtube videos, the US would win the abusing cars awards, no contest.

Yes,it's true, but I never seen or heard that someone in plain daylight in middle of regular traffic on some Interstate or Highway are doing this.

Type "drifting in traffic" in youtube, sit back and relax for a few weeks of videos :)
