  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello Folks,
Does someone have more information about how the HTRAC AWD system works, torque distribution, more info about the different modes and etc?

From my so far experience, I conclude that in Normal mode the main wheel torque is given to the rear wheels and if needed torque is transferred to the front wheels.
Basically with HTRAC the Genesis is RWD car and in some occasions it become AWD. :)

Normal mode 90% of power is at the front, 10% to rear,
Sport mode, 90% of power in the rear, 10% in the front,
AWD mode 50% in the front, 50% in the rear.
To get the AWD to engage hold the mode button down, should show up in front display or if you have a NAV, it will appear on the top edge of NAV, (little picture of a car)

AWD is always engaged in fact you cannot turn it off. Are you perhaps referring to snow mode? Regardless, the splits posted are not correct. Here ia a good article explaining the splits a little better. http://www.autogo.ca/en/articles/32923/hyundai's-awd-systems-1-winter-0/

xsolara, Midnightsun, thanks!

HTRAC works great , used it last year in about 6 inches of snow . Never got stuck

I wonder if the front/rear distribution info is available via the OBD system, perhaps on a custom sensor setup? The Torque app can be left running to gather the car's data while on a trip, it would be interesting to see how the HTRAC reacts to different conditions.

There are both paid and free versions of a hyundai plugin for Torque. I was going to set this all up for my previous car (a 2012 Sonata) if I ever had a CEL, but I never had a problem with it...

oops wrong thread

You have to commend Hyundai on their honesty. Look close at the 50-60 sec portion of the video and you can see the rear driveshaft wiggling.
