If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Many of you that are posting have removed some or all of the OEM Hyundai badges in favor of the Genesis only badges (trunk, steering wheels, wheel caps, hood, etc.). Join in the poll ...

I didn't bother with the hood badge, just the rear, wheels and steering wheel.

I guess I am the one owner with no rebadging intentions.

I am really surprised by the results of this poll. How is Hyundai going to build a reputation as a luxury brand, if all the luxury cars sold are "cloaked"? Does this also mean if asked the question directly, would you avoid saying it is a Hyundai?

Everyone I have spoke to in my local area since getting this car is impressed with the leap forward Hyundai has made in quality and design of vehicle offerings. I think Hyundai should get some recognition for that.

Not saying everyone should adjust to my point of view, but was still amazed at the number of people rebadging.

For me it wasn't a question of cloaking the car, I could care less if people see me driving a Hyundai. And I'm in high tech sales where I'm very visible to a broad swath of customers.

I franlky think the logos and wheelcaps add a very distinctive touch of class, plain and simple. Not sure how others feel?

To me I prefer the look of the Genesis winged logo to the Hyundai H. I would have done the same thing if I bought another Honda and they had the Genesis. Nothing against Hyundai but when people ask me who makes it, I proudly tell them it's a Hyundai car. I think the Genesis badge creates more notice and will, IMO, help Hyundai in the long run.

I really dont think it is a matter of "hiding" what we are driving. After all, the wing logo is the ORIGINAL logo designed to go on the car in the first place.

I love it because more people ASK what kind of car it is...when I say Genesis...they go crazy. There is nothing like looking in your rear view mirror and see a suv full of people reading the words GENESIS in the wing logo and watching their reactions!!! Heck...I even went as far as to remove GENESIS and just leave the 4.6 there all by itself.

To each his own. :)

I agree. For me it's not a matter of disguising that it's a Hyundai. In fact, when people ask me what my car is I tell them it's a Hyundai Genesis. I just hate the slanted H logo. It looks dated and out of step w/ the rest of the car. I also didn't care for the logo-less front of the car....it just looked too empty. The KDM logos on the other hand look 10000x better. It was a mistake for Hyundai to not include this badging on the U.S. Spec car IMHO.

FWIW, many cars offered by other makes have had unique badges (e.g. Buick Riveria, Toyota Cressida [except the last Generation], etc.)

My rebadging was all about the beauty of the wings AND the questions about what brand car it is.

Oh- and owning a company called Genesis... the more GENESIS words on the car, the better. Wonder if it's a tax deduction:rolleyes:

I have no intention, and have wondered why this is so popular. I don't find the winged logo that attractive, and I get a kick at the double takes on the H logo.

I got the biggest laugh a couple of months ago when I saw a post seeking a way to rebadge the key.

I don't begrudge those who want to do it, but it's no big deal to me.

Hiding the band? No way. I'm proud to be driving such a beautiful Hyundai. I rebadged because it looks better and after all, the car is a Genesis and that's what the badges say. You can't really call it rebadging since only the trunk emblem was replaced.

I think it's a matter of personal preference, but I kind of feel the same way as you...

I actually prefer the clean badge-less look on the front. Based only on pictures of the latter, I'm mostly ambivilent about the italic H vs. winged logo on the trunk. Maybe, just like the car itself, pictures don't do it justice...and I'll change my mind after seeing the wings in person.

The thought of re-badging crossed my mind (to get a more distinctive look), but then I realized that to do it fully would require going down a nearly endless road...trunk, wheels, steering wheel, engine cover, key fob, etc. What's next? Reprogramming the onboard software so that the Nav screen at start-up has a Genesis winged logo instead of the H above Hyundai? Oh oh...I hope I didn't plant any ideas to the software savvy... ;)

the only way this comment makes any sense is if you say, "i could NOT care less"

so what's up with some of the exterior badges being blue and some being black?

V6 Tech here...

I rebadged the wheels, partly because I like the winged Genesis logo somewhat, but primarily because the black wheel caps look far better than the standard silver ones.

I have no intention of rebadging the trunk. I do want people to know that I am driving a lowly Hyundai - albeit one that blows away those fine German and Japanese luxury machines.

If I were to do the rebadging, I'd have to do the whole deal. Namely, rebadge the steering wheel as well ($300 including a new airbag), move the Genesis lettering to the lower left of the trunklid, and add the BH380 decal to the lower right. But even then, I'm driving a US-market Genesis that is made to look like a KDM Genesis, rather than the genuine KDM "BH380" with its extra bells and whistles. The license plate well alone ensures that my car is NOT a KDM model, as the Koreans have recently switched over to European-sized license plates and the KDM Genesis has the plate well designed for that size (and therefore different from the US-market plate well).

(Speaking of the BH380 decal, I do have it on my car - added under the Genesis lettering.)

My goal is to keep the US-market look while hinting at elements of the KDM model, rather than turning into a KDM wannabe.

I was at Ed Voyles dealer today, and saw quite of few Genesis models in the lot that already had the rear H badge replaced by the dealer before sale. I didn't do a check on the entire inventory of Genesis, but I suspect that when customers see the ones with the wings they will want end up selling the vast majority of them that way.

OTOH, when I was at Rick Case dealership about two months ago they were putting pinstripes on all their cars, including Genesis. Problem is that the pinstripe has a little "H" in it near the front doors on both sides. Rick Case is clueless.

I think it is a waste of money and I doubt that if you trade the car in a year or two that you will a penny more if it is rebadged. It is still a Hyundai.

Probably a huge waste of money. My rear badge cost about $18 including shipping.
