  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

XM, DIS & Inconsistencies Video

http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=5437

To follow up on the above thread I created two videos showing how the DIS system works with and without a SiriusXM subscription.

Video 1 is a demonstration without a subscription and Video 2 is a demonstration with a subscription. Sorry for the sub-par vid... there is no editing... If you have 5 minutes to spare watch them and let me know if your system acts the same way. Thanks

Great Post. Thank you.

Hi Ashdump,

Great video. That is EXACTLY what happened to mine today! We also had the 2 week trial here in Canada. I got in the car this morning, hit the voice command and sure enough... "Please wait". Music died for 1 minute. Issued another couple of commands and the whole system froze (controller would not react to anything anymore). After a few minutes, controller reacted again and I finished my trip without touching anything. After leaving the car for a few hours, the problem seems to have resolved itself. First time around I was not so lucky. I needed a new software update.

Thanks again for posting. Have a great day!

No problem guys... I figured since I was going to get a subscription to XM I would shoot a video to see if my theory was right.

asterix - Are you saying that your system fixed itself over time? Do you know approximately how many days or is it bouncing back and forth between working and not working?

Edit: just noticed that it happened and resolved itself on the same day.

Hi Ashdump,

Yesterday, the problem corrected itself after 2 hours. I drove the car this morning and tried the voice command right away. It still worked fine, so a big sigh of relief.

Glad yours is working fine now as well!

I have had problems with my navigation unit.

When I purchased my 4.6 Genesis with Tech package it included 1 year of XM for free. As long as my XM subscription was active, I had no problems with any of the NAVI features. At some point this winter, I started having problems with my voice command feature.

Sometimes I would press the button to give a command, and it wouldn't respond at all. Other times it would pause for a long time, tell me to wait, and then, 10-15 seconds later give me a beep. It would take the command, but the radio wouldn't come back for 30 seconds to 1.5 minutes. Sometimes the whole system would hang up, none of the buttons working at all on the system until I stopped and restarted the engine.

I took it to the shop, where they did their best, but could find nothing. It seemed a little ridiculous to make a big deal about this minor feature, so I just live with it, but it grated on me. The nav/av system for this car cost me $4000, I thought it should work flawlessly.

A few weeks ago, XM offered a free week of access and when my XM service reactivated, everything worked again! Woo-hoo! No delays in voice commands, no hang ups everything was perfect. When the week ended, and the delays and system hangs came back, I gave serious thought to subscribing to XM on one of their resubscribe offers, just to get my navigation working 100% again.

Then, last week my dealership called me up to offer me a free "Navigation Upgrade". They told me it was updating my maps, but it's on a series of 4 DVDs and the update takes hours. Clearly, it's more than simply maps. When I got the car back yesterday, the NAVI operated perfectly, with no lag. If you are having problems with your Navigation system, call your dealership and ask if your car is eligible for Campaign #P06, it fixed my problems.

Here is the link to the PDF for Campaign #P06:
