  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had to stop really short yesterday after a truck in front of me did the same. It activated the Vehicle Stability Management system.

It all happened so fast, I'm not sure what happened. I do know that the small display screen in the dash flashed red and the the lanes that you would see when using the LDWS appeared. I responded quickly, even before the display came on, so it disappeared quickly which is why I'm unable to describe it. Of course I wasn't really looking at the screen considering the circumstances.

In the manual it shows that the screen should also display 2 cars much as the screen does when you have the cruise control engaged. I'm assuming it did that.

I didn't notice if the seat belt or brakes did anything different because it was over with so quickly. I didn't hear any warning sound, but I was listening to my Ipod and had the volume up.

Nice to know it works, hope the car doesn't feel the need to do it again.

I have had this happen to me a few times in busy Houston traffic and the collision avoidance system works very well. It will brace the seat belt and take over the braking. The braking change is weird - almost as if it loses pressure to your foot but definitely is braking. That was the thing I remembered the first time it happened. The two cars you mention do show up on the screen along with the red warning. I have stopped safely in each case where the system activated - it is nice to know the safety measure is there.

Nola and jgriffter

when it happen, do you have the radar cruise control on? Or the VSM can be activated without using cruise control?

jgrifter,

that's good to know. I didn't realize it would brake the car.

And Setmind-cruise control was NOT on.

Nice thread, had no idea the system even existed. And after reading the manual I know even more! (BTW, no activation below 9 mph, or recognition of a stopped car or pedestrians. I read 'em so you don't have to.)

May I hijack this thread for a minute?
Problem: DVD player is returning no sound on certain DVD-As. It names them, seconds and minutes count off as if it's playing, but there's no sound. I've tried switching slots around but that doesn't help. Btw, these are discs that played perfectly in the Gen. Oh. They're not home made.
I think the next step is to try these discs in a different Horse at the dealer. If they work there I may need a new head unit?

I read most of the manual, but when I thought it was covering stuff that I knew already from the Genesis, I skipped over it. I guess I skipped too much.

BTHBC, regarding your problem, I think your idea is a good one (going to check out another Equus). As for any personal experience, I haven't even stuck a disc in the CD player yet! I've just been playin' the Ipod and XM abd radio.
