If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. So, the dealership in my town still has a 2011 Signature Equus on the lot. Not a 2012 mind you, but 2011.

I know the engine is smaller than the 2012. I know its a six speed rather than 8.

My question is, what do you think I could reasonably offer and get for it--let's assume no trade in?

Feel free to quote either sale price or out the door price if you like--just please specify which you are quoting.

As a reference, my current car is an 2007 BMW 328 Hardtop Convertible loaded--which I do really enjoy. Only has 37k on it (BTW, if you want, you can make an educated guess on trade value for it).

I'm just flirting with the Equus as something different.

thanks.

I've been offered a 2012 for $49,900. I would be reluctant to even pay $45,000 for a 2011. Also, check the other active post about whether or not the car's warranty is already ticking away.

I was offered a couple of 2011 Ultimates back 4-6 months ago for $50-$51k. Still had .9% financing then for 36 months.

Passed and went with a 2012 Ultimate.

I think you are looking at a $42-43,000 car.

There is a nice used granite gran 4,000 mile 2012 Ultimate in Birmingham, AL on Ebay now with asking price of $49,900. That car went at auction, I'm told, for 46,500.

Nice info/replies.

Currently, the dealership has a "Sale" sticker on the car with an asking price of 52,900.

Sounds like they're dreaming.

Out the door at in the low 40s?

The prices I mentioned were out the door with a temp tag, but no sales tax. Processing/document fees (i.e. garbage fees) are either to be waived or negotiated. I offer a dealer an out the door price and he can play with the fees any way he wants as long as they're not added on to my offer.

Another reference: I had a NJ dealer offer me a 2011 Signature with about 5000 miles for $43500, 1 owner vehicle. This was 3 months ago. I passed on that one.

Keep looking; the deals are out there.

For what it's worth, I was offered a 2012 Equus Signature (200 or so miles) for $47,500.

In the automobile or real estate business, all prices are asking prices, and the final price is negotiable.

I think I'm going to hold off.

First, I think if/when I pull the trigger on the Equus, I want it in black. This 2011 is granite. Admittedly, that is my second favorite color for the car, so it still interests me. The car on the lot now has black interior which is my first choice. Its also a Signature, which, for me, is the preferred trim.

Second, the smaller engine/2 fewer gears bothers me. Although, I wonder if it really affects performance. My guess is, if it does, its nominal.

Third, its such a different driving experience from what I have (though I haven't test driven it--I did have a Lexus prior to my current BMW--I imagine the similarities to Lexus are striking given the benchmarking). And I love my 3 series. I love the transforming hardtop. It makes me think, if it ain't broke...

The possibility of getting such a great deal, though, so much car, so (relatively) little dough. Plus, the 3er interior, while solid, is not even in the same ballpark as the sumptuous Equus.

Anyone know the rumors of AWD...for the Genesis, it appears 2014 model year will bring AWD...Equus rumors of AWD in 2014 too or later?

Get the 2012. I have driven both the 2011 and 2012 Ultimates, and bought the 2012. Trans feels great in the 2012, and the extra hp is worth having.

Although the 2012 is rated 1 mpg less than the 2011, I am getting 25.5-26mpg on the hwy at 70-80 mph.

There is an Ultimate Granite Gray / black 2012 with 4600 miles currently on ebay at $50k asking....

While overall, I agree that gently used cars, esp Hyundai with its lowish resale value, is the best bang for the buck, I have a couple questions/issues

First. My current car is a used 3 series. My prior car was a used Lexus ES. Next time out, Equus or otherwise, I want New. I want the Smell. I want to know every mile and every service, every idiosyncrasy. In short, I want it to be Mine. And only Mine.

Second, what about the warrant? Does the 5/60 10/10 bequeath to a used owner?

Hyundai on the official website, by my reading, states clearly that, at the very least, the Valet Service is only for the original owner.

The Valet gimmick really appeals to me.

Insight?

The 10/100,000 warranty IS available on used cars if the car is sold by a Hyundai dealer under their Certified coverage. Extra cost, though. All used Hyundais have the 5/60, regardless of their place of purchase.

Valet service applies for warranty items only on a used Equus.

When contemplating used versus new, I felt that the valet service/maintenance package was worth about $1500-$2000, based on my driving habits and replacement parts. Based on what I've put into my other cars, it would be a couple air filters tire rotation and 8 oil changes, possibly a set of brakes, although I typically get 60-80000 miles on a set of pads.

Also worth considering is the fact that most Equus owners will probably not keep the car long enough to enjoy the full 10-year period.

For me, the over $18000 savings off of list was worth getting a used 4600 mile car....I can buy an extra motorcycle or other toy with the savings.

Plus, I change oil more frequently than the recommended 7500 mile intervals, and by doing it myself, make sure that the oil is drained completely and drain plug is torqued correctly.

Just my $.02....

Last month I got a 2012 satin Signature with 1500 miles, manager driver so sold as new, for $42450 including tint and clear bra, and a generous trade. There are deals out there if you search hard. Good luck

Its still there....

So, I started this post in December, I think.

The 2011 new Equus is still there; now marked down to 47,000.

That makes me think its gettable for 42-44k

Lower?

Its sooooo much car for that money, I'm kind of getting twitchy (although I do prefer the styling updates on the 2014 just introduced).

Thoughts?

ya gotta figure its costing the dealership a fortune in lot costs so hit then low in the first offer. id say low 40's to start.

I think a good price would be in the high 30s....based on what I'm seeing for other vehicles. It's still an almost 3-year old car. Once driven off the lot, it's a USED CAR, albeit a low-miler.

I, too, am anxious to see the 2014.

You have to ask yourself WHY is this 2011 still on the lot?

You did not mention mileage.

It this a test drive demonstrator?

Is this the loaner car?

I agree on the "why is the car still around" thought.

I don't know the mileage. I just know the car is not pre-owned.

The best case as for why the car is still available is
1). It's a small town. The market is small. There are no luxury dealers here.
2). It's rear wheel drive in a town that gets some snow and ice
3). Snowball effect. Once the car gets to be 1 year old, the window may be closed.

Alternatively, there could be issues with the car that I don't know (rattles or electric issues that are obvious on test drives).

Here we are, Late July 2013 with the 2014s introduced

And

The 2011 previously unsold Grey Equus is still on he lot.

Marked down to 46k

This thing may never sell now.

I think its also difficult to get financed on an older car like this. At least that's what I've always heard.
