If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This weekend while I was out and about, making a few stops, my AC started blowing hot air. It was working fine when I stopped at the store. When I got back in and headed home, it wouldn't col and started blowing hot air. I had to shut it off. Later that night i was out and about again with the boss (wife) and it was still blowing hot air, no matter what I tried.

I'm calling this AM to get an appointment to drop the car off. I'll post here the results. this is the first majior issue with the car in 2 years.

Crusty,
Try running in "auto" mode, temp work around until dealer is willing to keep and run for several days. My suspicion is in manual at high fan speeds, temp sensor says tooooocold and opens a hot/cold blend door. Fan speed in auto mode semi controlable by temp setting

I always run it in auto mode. I switched to manual mode and no dice.

Wife drove the car this morning and the heater worked. Droping it off at the dealer tonight.

I had this same problem happen to my 2012 3.8L base model just the other day, but it was temporary. I was in auto mode, so I punched the A/C button twice and then hit it back to auto mode. This brought it back for me. It only lasted about a minute or two.

I really hate auto A/C. There are just some things I'd rather control myself directly with knobs.

Yep, did it all. Auto, AC, off, back on. No change.

I atually like the auto feature. Set a temp and let the system work, kind of like in your house. I usually keep it at 69-70 all the time. Let the system figure out if it needs to cool or heat so I don't have to. ;)

Compressor fuse?

I didn't check any fuses. I was taking the car in anyways for a oil change and tire rotation.

Still didn't work on the way to the dealer.

Please advise what the repair is/was!

Got a report last night. Compressor is bad. It's on back order. They are hopeing they can get it by next week.

I had a compressor fail on my previous car, an Acura, it took about a month before it came in to the dealer's service department. I just enjoyed driving the loaner and had two long trips planned, so for that month I put about 5000 miles on the loaner. So, enjoy the loaner.

Didn't get a loaner. Got the car back.

Luckly no heat wave here on the SoCal coast. If it's not fixed by next week, then I'll step the matter up to whomever I need to.

No loaner??? Did you try saying something like "That's ok if the compressor takes a while. I will keep your loaner until you call and tell me my car is ready. Oh, and don't forget to wash my car before I pick it up."

Naw, not yet. I had dropped it off for teh AC but since it was there and I had a coupon, I had them do an oil and filter along with a tire rotation. I also complained about a noise seat track. They are replacing the compressor and the seat track. I thought it just needed oil/grease but he said they were replacing it.

If the parts aren't in by next wek, then I'll call and discuss a loaner. Right now it's no big deal as I have 3 other vechicles to choose from to drive and I'm not planing on taking any trips. But if I do, then YES, I'll need a loaner. :)

I just posted in the radio forum. My 2010 has blown hot air 3 times. All three times, the fan and all the lights were lit and working normal, just hot air. Shut down the car and reboot, and everything works OK. Dealer said problem is in the radio head, and since my radio warranty happens to have just run out, a new radio head will cost me $5300.00. Think I'll just reboot.

Is your maps updated to the latest firmware. If the dealer says its the head unit it might be the firmware because when I updated mine I notice I do not get much of the heat when I first turn my car on with the AC and it cool's faster. Even my audio sounds better including the bass. The update is more than just maps and I live in Florida.

I was one of the first, if not the first, to get the new TSB and have my radio updated and posted such in a thread.

The compressor was checked, power going in but no pressure coming out. Sounds like a bad compressor to me.

We've had the car long enough to have learned what's "normal" for it. It wasn't just a delay in the A/C coming on, it didn't cool at all. I let it run for about 10 min so the car would be cool, since we were dressed and on the way to a funeral. Regardless, $400 for an update is insane. $5300 for a radio head is also insane. Now we're getting into aircraft parts prices.

Got a call from the dealer and parts are in. Dropped the car off last night and should have it back today or tomorrow.

Even though the compressor was back ordered, he got one. When I asked about it, he said they put a E code on it, basically Emergency code, and so was able to get it in quick.

So far, I have no issues with Hyundai and their warrenties.

UPDATE:

Got a call from the dealer this morning. He said that there is a new TSB that says to replace the cluthc fan for the non cooling issue. SO they are keeping the car another day as they should get the clutch fan in the morning. If that dosen't fix it, at least they have the compressor in hand.

OK, picke dup the car. Ac working great. Dealer said the clutch had desinegrated inside. There is a TSB on it.

I asked about the cold air not being really cold. he said it meets specs. But they have a thing called Artic Blast they will install for 60 bucks. Supposed to make the R134 work better and drop temps by 10 degrees. I may have it done next time the car is in the shop.

Crusty read about this stuff, if you have it done please post results....sounds like "fools gold"... But I'll go to school on you.
