  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

suround sound issue TSB

I wish I had a choice on dealers. I miss my BMW and the service I received with them.

" if the computer isn't throwing an error... its not broken and we can't do anything"
" computer is supposed to show 1st oil change in 25,000 miles... it's condition based"
" sorry the brake squeal on your 2 yr old 12,000 mile car cant be fixed because bmw wont replace with this much pad left"
" your bill for the oil change is $135... 1000 miles later... sorry you need to put another quart in ... parts is over there..."

I know what i expect from a luxury dealer, and unfortunately bmw dealers are all different. I know what to expect from hyundai... so anything above the bare minimum is a plus... unfortunately.

do i miss BMW F no. I sure dont miss " the transmission noise is normal , its comming from the torque converter".... " uh when did they start putting torque converters in manual transmission cars"

sorry for the rant and to derail the thread

yeah man, SOO GLAD to have the run flats gone and now have a dipstick !

Call me crazy... but i didnt take my brand new 2007 to FL for my wedding... didnt need it crapping out on the drive due to HPFP.

I replaced my RFTs with regular tires ... about 14 months later i was driving to work doing 60 and my back end of the car jumped up in the air which felt like 2-3 feet.... I ran over a metal road reflector and it vaulted my car in the air, completely punctured the tire and rim, trashed the alignment... and it never drove right ever since.... trying to find some pictures

I have attempted without any luck to get my Hyundai dealer here in Eugene to apply the TSB update to my 2012 model. They will not do it because they are being told that it may cause unrecoverable damage to the stereo. I tried to reason with them on the phone and explained how several people are getting the update and it is fixing their issue. I finally said it is broke and you need to fix it. Either you apply the update or you replace my head unit. They are going to look into replacing the head unit. Now doesn't that make more sense.

Take it in for them to replace the head unit. When they ACTUALLY call Hyundai for the new head unit, they will be told to upload the new software. Good luck. Too bad you can't find another dealer near by to go to.

In other words, the first TSB did brick the head units. The SECOND TSB does correctly fix the problem without bricking the head unit.

Tell the dealer to get off their lazy ass and actually read the TSBs.

The second TSB still dosen't list the 2012 however. But it does work.

No issues so far, other than when a little water dripped down into the center console. But after it dried out, it's working fine.

I just got the TSB done on my car. It took 1 and 1/2 hours to complete. So far so good.

TimeOut, did you have the surround sound issue? Did the TSB solve any othre radio issues. My sound system doesn't sound as crisp and clear as it did before I swapped out my head units.

I asked for the head unit replacement and was told I needed to bring it in for some tests first, before they would replace it. If they deemed it needed replacing that they would replace it with a rebuilt unit.

I told them to forget it and that I will make sure that I buy my next car from a company with some common sense!

I did not have the surround sound issue. What I had was the audio not working and voice command failure every other month. Every time, rebooting the Amplifier fixed the problem. Time is going to tell if these issues are resolved with this software update.

About sound not being the same after swapping head units, I did notice a difference after I got a new head unit last year. What I noticed was the volume level wasn't the same between the two. With my old unit, setting the volume to "10" was very loud. Now, it has to be around 20 to match the old 10.

When was this? Why exactly did YOU think the head unit needed to be replaced?

This week. They would not run the software update on my car. They said it will ruin 2012 model years, even though I showed them plenty of people on here that have had the update ran on their cars. I got pissed and told them there was a problem and they need to fix it. They then offered to run some tests to decide if the head unit needed replacing. I told them to forget it. I do not want a refurbished head unit that may be worse than what I have. Not taking the chance.

Is there another dealer you can take the car to? Might be worth the extra drive. But I'd call ahead first to see if they have the new software.

Is the issue you are having the Surround sound uncheck? If it's something else, then the new software may not fix it.

Have you asked them to call Hyundai corporiate? They will tell them to load the new software.

Good luck.

Bringing this thread back up to the top as there are still people who are having problems and don't know about the TSB. Since I had the SW updated, 9-13-12, I've had no issues at all with the system.

Are TSB updates such as this done for free out of warranty?

I'm the second owner of a 2009 4.6 Tech with 61.500 miles, and badly need the update.

09 4.6 techs didn't have the surround sound issue... you are saying yours does?

Or are you looking for a free update for other issues (maps?).

This one does not fix any map issues. But it does fix several radio issues. All you can do is ask your dealer if there is a charge to perform the TSB. Worse he can say is yes.

My issue is that after using voice guidance, my DIS knob functions are stuck for about 10 minutes. This TSB was supposed to fix that, among other things.

You can download the TSB from www.hmaservice.com

TSB 12-BE-012-1 DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM (DIS) OPERATING SOFTWARE UPDATE

But, TSB says it is for the Genesis Sedan 2009 to 2011 and Equus 2011. You might want to ask your dealer about this.

My dealer hasn't received the Discs yet. It's been almost 3 months since the TSB got released.

In accessing the TSBs, is anyone else unable to register themselves onto hmaservice.com? I am getting a blank popup screen when I try to: "review and check the Privacy Policy and Usage Agreement" :?
