  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Detroit Auto Show Unveiling Thread

There are options listed for the V8 so it may not come fully loaded like my 2011
Can you explain where you are seeing this information? Certainly the AWD is an option. I could imagine that Panoramic Rood might be an option (not something I would want even if it were free).

No AWD option for v8......

Sure hope that info is fluid.

And also means no heated steering wheel for V8?

Maybe the Korean V8 has AWD?

That would make no sense. I thought maybe this iteration of HTRAC was not designed for the torque of the V8, but if one is available elsewhere with the larger motor, this is a strange marketing decision.

I am going to hope either that features list in the media kit was very pre-release and not final or an R-Spec model will be introduced with all the options. I have to believe the AWD shunning by the V8 is an editing mistake - it would be a major faux pas if they plan on chewing into their target. I believe one of the product mangers was quoted last week on a call saying they expect close to a 50% uptake on the AWD models.

If not, this is a bit of a let down and with the options added in, could price deeper into the $50's, whihc would be a shame.

Maybe a deeply discounted 2013 or 2014 R-spec is not such a bad deal....

I could see them scraping the R-Spec logo, because they will offer an optional adjustable suspension with sport mode for the 5.0. Aside from suspension, and very minor interior trim items, there really was not much difference between regular 5.0 and R-Spec when both were available in 2012. I did notice that 2015 5.0 does have larger size tires on the rear.

I want one! It has all the little goodies I want or miss.

Gotta love the marketing geeks: "metalgrain interior accents." Seriously?

flying H on rear, wing on front? (scratches head)

looks like there are a lot of TBDs going on here...

Did not see soft close doors in the option list, yet I thought I saw that on a KDM model video. Would have been a nice luxury item on a car now laden with most of the goodies.

Since woodgrain means plastic that looks like wood, I am assuming that metalgrain is plastic that looks like metal. I know on some trim levels, they will have real aluminum trim, but maybe on base model those are just plastic that looks like metal.

I have seen so much conflicting information in the last few weeks I don't know what to believe. I have seen references to 420hp, 426hp, 429hp. I've seen them say that the V6 is coming out this year followed by a "Sport" version next year (which, if you extrapolate model years 2013-2014, would imply that the V8 will only be available on a sport model). I've seen one preview article saying that the new car would be "much quicker" than the old one (something I was highly suspicious of), while others have said that while they did increase the torque, that torque increase is offset by increased weight (which is more believable). I've seen one article say April 2014, while others have said fall 2014. All of the info seems very unreliable at this point.

I am going to take a pill and wait until I can drive one. Then I will bring extra underwear.
:D

Looks like there are wings everywhere (hood, wheel hubs, airbag) except on the rear. I guess they realized that most people will change them anyway, so just making it lot easier now.

I believe Hyundai has made transmission changes in 2015 that make the car quicker, even if HP is down slightly. Some are saying that 2014 has some of these same changes to transmission. So I don't necessarily think slightly lower HP rating and better acceleration is in conflict.

Hyundai has always said availability is 2Q of 2014 (April, May, or June). They repeated that today during the event. There was only one article that said otherwise, which was obviously false. One of Hyundai people today categorically said that V6 and V8 will be available about the same time (could always be minor differences in delivery due to production runs, shipping, distribution to dealers, etc).
