If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I purchased a new 2015 Genesis and forgot to really research the extended warranty since I didn't plan to purchase it. The price seemed reasonable, but I know there can be a lot of if's and but's in these things. Here's the details on the warranty...

Listed as HPP backed by HMA.
Platinum plan for 10yr/100k miles $0 Deductible at any dealership

I need to make a decision fairly fast, is this warranty generally considered reputable and what is a very good price on it?

run a search there are many threads about this topic.

HMA is Hyundai Motor America, so that is the manufacturer's extended warranty. It is the only extended warranty you should consider. If you plan to keep the car past 3 years, it is recommended because of the 3 year warranty on the car entertainment and nav system.

Don't let your dealer pressure you into a deadline of buying it. I am pretty sure you have a while to decide. You can purchase it at any Hyundai dealer (and is honored at any Hyundai dealer in the USA).

For 2009-2014 Genesis models, a good price was $1200 (dealer cost $1050), but not sure about 2015 (probably higher). If you check the other threads, you can find out where to purchase it at a good price at another dealer on the phone.

Thanks for the help, I went back and forth for a while and $1900 was their bottom dollar price. Do I need to buy it in my home state? (TX) Could someone PM a dealer that does Cost +10% or Cost +$150 etc that I could reach out to? Thanks!!

As I mentioned, you can purchase the warranty from any Hyundai dealer in the USA (FL is an exception due to warranties being governed by insurance laws there). If you search this forum, you will find out how to contact dealers who will sell them on the phone (and mail you the paperwork) for a couple hundred over cost. But not sure what the cost is for 2015, since the price of the 2015 Genesis is $5-$10K higher than previous years.

you can also search the fourum and fin out what others have paid. im pretty sure 1900 is high. i paid 1399 for mine

$1900 may be high for a 2015, but I am pretty sure the 2015 warranty is more than in previous years.

I paid 1499 for mine.

i paid 1399 for it in 2006 with my sonota as well. the dealership marks it up from 800.

If you have another address, you can use that to purchase...I live in Florida and was able to use my mom's address to purchase and extended dealer warranty from her state for $800 cheaper than the regulated Florida dealer...the warranty to my understanding is tied to the VIN so it's not a "local dealer" thing...

I searched the forum a bit (in between playing with my new car) :) and I still wasn't seeing specific dealers I could reach out to that sold the HPP Platinum for really good prices. I'm probably just bad at searching, don't beat me up too bad!!

Someone posted that you can PM them for a good dealer. I know there are some posts that mention names also. Try google if the search function on this forum is not working for you.

Purchased mine as suggested in a prior post .

Be sure to check with Jim Ellis Hyundai in Atlanta. They carry the genuine HPP warranty and have better prices than most. That's where I bought mine, and it was a simple process. The business manager who handles warranties is Haub Cao. Sales: (888) 694-8590

Paid $1295.00 for Platinum coverage 10/100 and $100.00 deductable. Very pleasant person to deal with. Be aware of this exclusion in the contract.

What's the rush? You won't have any need for it till the 3 year point. You can buy it years from now with no cost penalty.

10/100/0 Platinum $1261.00 -- 07/08/2014

These are prices quoted for 2015 Genesis 5.0L Ultimate package.
10yr /100000miles /0 deductible = (10/100/0) Platinum . This is the real HMC titled "VEHICLE SERVICE AGREEMENT" and far right top of page under Hyundai logo there will be "AGREEMENT NUMBER XXXXXXXX" that is administered by Hyundai not Fidelity Warranty Service.
Fidelity also sell (they said) the same word by word agreement that they administer. Fidelity Warranty Service is owned by JM & A in Florida who also sell another agreement. Donna at Annapolis Hyundai said she sells all three. Said all three are good then she told me she bought the Hyundai agreement for her own car. Also they are given free trips (vacations) for certain volume levels.
Note these warranty are sold by the Finance Manager and they are the ones that make a commission on the sale not the car salesman. Therefore they do not care where the car was purchase so if you don't like the price you are getting call several Hyundai dealerships. You can buy this several years down the road not anything that must be done at time of sale.
I had several located in Dallas Fort Worth area that quoted me prices above the $1050 and less than the above but they did not want to be listed on this forum.
I was not able to get any one of them to acknowledge what their real cost was. From a few comments several made I suspect that the $1050 cost figure floating around has about $250 worth of overhead included. Fact- Car dealership total profit, 15% is from sales of these extended agreements.

Is this worth the cost? If you are my age too old to work on cars then several repairs garages charge more for struts replacement than a good cost for this agreement. So you be the judge.

Hope this helps someone.

This issue with the Genesis that makes the extended warranty so useful has been the entertainment/GPS electronics systems. There have been a lot of problems with head units and amps, and each one costs $3K to replace (parts only), and they can't repair them, only replace them. The HMA warranty on these items in only 36 month / 36K miles.

Ironically, even though Hyundai has the longest warranty in the business, getting an extended warranty is probably more important on their cars than most other brands.

Uhh...wait a minute here...You guys paid around $1500 for the 10yr/100k extended warranty!?!? Sounds like I got robbed at $2315.....for the same thing for my 2015 AWD V6 Ultimate Genesis.. Wonder if it's too late to get that money back.....that's not cool at all.. I should also note that it wasn't HPP coverage but a competing vendor that they were also selling for that he said was significantly better than HPP, but that was the same cost for either coverage option.

I was quoted over $2500 on my 2015 3.8 AWD Ultimate - so I passed as I had read here that you can get MUCH better deals! I'll likely buy from one of the above links if my dealer won't price match. Thanks for the info/contacts!
