  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

While i understand the price difference, and the pkg features...am trying to understand from owners that have any/many of these Pkgs as too how much of their Genesis experience is tied to the package features, vs just the base featureset of engine/ride/etc?

Thanks

I have the Signature pkg and the only thing I would desire from the other pkg is HUD.

I really like my other car but it’s hard to get into another car now without a HUD now. It’s just that good. It's my favorite feature.

+1. Once you go HUD you never go back..

While mine is a 2012 model, and doesn't have all the latest features like a HUD, for me the "Genesis experience" is all about how the car drives. The smooth acceleration, the handling, the ride, the comfort, the quiet. Everything else is icing on the cake.

HUD is awesome as is infotainment controller. It's such a pleasurable car to drive and worth the cost of the Ultimate pkg.

After using HUD and the 9.2" display, they have gone from "nice-to-have" to essential.

+1. Ultimate pkg. is well worth the additional cost if you want a true luxury experience.

Ultimate is worth it, as others have stated. On the 5.0, it is essential because Sport mode suspension and tranny setting make for one serious fun ride!

It's all a matter of what you want in a car. I have the base model and love my Genny. I did not want a rolling infotainment center. The nav and backup system is all I wanted. My base Genny at $36,000 is a fantastic deal. If you want more options, the Genny is a great vehicle on which to add the toys.

BTY, the sport mode really makes a difference in felt performance. I do wish is would hold in that mode and not require resetting after every turn off of the ignition.

I totally agree, once you have the HUD, its really hard to know how fast you are going driving another car. I got my genesis v6 AWD fully loaded and I have never considered anything less.

I'll add my vote for the Ultimate HUD and lane-keep assist.

I suspect having HUD is like keyless entry/start.

Don't realize how much easier things are unless you have it and once you have it, don't won't to go back (something like not having to take the keys out of your pocket might seem like a little thing, but it really makes things easier and less aggravating).

Also, one reason to opt for the Genesis instead of the competition is being able to load up on all the goodies for the price of a pretty stripped down competitor.

I had the opportunity to drive a Genesis V6 while my car was in the shop and it did not have the HUD display. You really don't know how much you miss it until it is not there. Along with Blind Spot protection and AEB, I think HUD and those should all be standard on every car on the road.

While the HUD display is very useful the best part of the Ultimate package is the ability to not have to use the damn touch screen. Touch screens, which are becoming an industry standard, have their place but to me a cars dash board isn't one of them. Tech for techs sake is just gadgetry. Even a passenger in a moving vehicle trying to make a menu choice miss touches 70% of the time while attempting to punch up menu selections. The rotary knob is far more intuitive and far safer to operate.

Agree entirely. I love the rotary knob as do my passengers. That said, I do find I use the touch screen on occasion as well as the dash buttons. All in all, Hyundai did a nice job of incorporating redundancy to allow for multiple ways to do the same thing (including the steering wheel and voice)....

Ditto... The V6 I drove did not have the rotary knob and I was at a loss. :D

After your question I looked up all of the options that were available. I have the ultimate with awd. I use all of the extra features and that is what I love about the car. I had to take my car in for service and was given a basic sonata and I all of a sudden became a car snob and was miserable in the sonata. I was very hesitant to spend the money on this car but am happy and consider it a rare splurge.
