HPP Extended Warranty

I think most dealers markup the extended warranties to be around double their cost. For my 2015 Genesis, my dealer initial price was $2600 for the Hyundai protection plan, but he was willing to sell it for $1500. They refused to go any lower though.

Wonder if it's too late to get that money back.....that's not cool at all.. I should also note that it wasn't HPP coverage but a competing vendor that they were also selling for that he said was significantly better than HPP, but that was the same cost for either coverage option.

In real estate and automobiles, everything negotiable. Never assume that a price they quote you is the same price that everyone else pays.

I don't think the competing vendors are better than the HPP (not sure how that can be). Hopefully the warranty you purchased is just as good as the HPP one. You could contact the warranty company directly and ask what amount of refund you can get if you cancel it immediately.

Yes, cancel it pronto if you can recoup most of the cost. You don't even need the warranty for three years. You can buy a genuine Hyundai warranty later down the road.

I purchased mine for $1340 10/100/0 Platinum. Dealer said it was employee pricing and that was $100 over cost. Looks like that probably wasn't true either...( not a fan of car salesman )

They always say that for everything they sell. Plus the favorite line when selling demos: "It was the personal car of the dealer GM."

Did you offer your dealership the chance to match the better price before canceling? They may take it rather than go through all the cancellation process.

Took me 4 weeks to get my refund when I cancelled my Audi contract, does the contract say anything on how long the cancellation takes?

I wonder if the AWD version is the difference in the price. It's hard to imagine that AWD isn't going to expensive as all Hades to repair.

No, that is not the reason. The HTRAC system is part of the Genesis drivetrain and already covered under the 10 year - 100K mile drivetrain warranty (for original owner).

When I bought my Genesis, the finance guy quoted me $3600, and I said no. Then he said "what if I told you it was only $2400?" I said no again. Then he said "What if I told you it was only $1500?" These guys are just looking for customers who have no idea what the dealer cost of the warranty is, and customers who assume (for reasons unknown to me) that most car salesman are honest people.

Again, there is no rush. You have three years to get another warranty. You won't be needing it until then unless you plan on driving 36,000 miles in three years.

With regards to the Platinum extended warranty covering the HIGH TECH Electronics found on the 2015 Genesis. The badly worded what is not covered is just that. I had to email Hyundai several times to get clarification of the wording and if the electronics found on the Ultimate version of the vehicle were covered. Hyundai responses were just as vague. I finally asked if there was someone else I need to speak to. The last email that Hyundai sent me stated that their warranty is handled by Safeguard (a company that Hyundai owns) and that they Safeguard would have to answer my concerns on what is or not covered irst clue that something is wrong. I emailed Safeguard with the same query, Hyundai/Safeguard called me directly Dan Monday and Ernest Davis. They both said that any Electronics that have Radar (Your Active Cruise control, The near avoidance System, Lane assist, Rear cross traffic systems and any other system that utilizes radar IS NOT COVERED. They would not send that to me in writing. Please do what I did and continue to request clarification you might be surprised like I was.

Figures they take out anything of value for the expensive warranty. It looks worse than some top tier aftermarket system.

Sure man, anything is possible with $$$. My dealer said that I could buy at anytime, but that the price could/would incrementally increase as the car got older/more miles.

Anyone have any experience with Geico's Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI)? I realize that the 2015 model year isn't going to be an issue until the Hyundai new car warranty expires. I'm wondering if the "radar" systems which are excluded from the HPP extended warranty may be covered by Geico's MBI.

I got a 2015 V8 Base yesterday; and bought the 10 yr, 100K, Zero deductible. My rationale was that if i keep the car 5ish years, it is worth it (the price for 5 ys vs 10 yr was small), and if i were to sell it then the warranty has value and makes the car more desirable for resale.

HOWEVER, as someone pointed out, the exclusions seems to skirt some of the key reasons of buying this....like the Radar components, etc.
Typically we list those items NOT Covered rather than the huge list
of covered items when defining Platinum component coverage. See below.

Has anyone used the HPP warranty on any cars...not necessarily Genesis? Experiences?
