  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

We were out of town and the area we were in had a warning for the threat of hail. While we were heading out to dinner last night I used the Sirius XM Data function in my car and located a Radar Weather Map function. Pretty cool option that I didn't know we had. I have a 5.0 Ultimate so not sure if this available in the other packages. It comes with the Sirius Data package that we all get for the first two years (I think) for free.

Nice find.

Hit the "Home" button next to the DIS knob to bring up all the ICON's.
Click "SiriusXM Data"
Click "Weather"
Click "Menu"
Click "Weather Map" and walla, your there :D

Pages 121 thru 125 in the DIS manual...

Nice. I've used this to check local weather forecasts, but didn't know about the map. I'll have to look through the books and menus again to see what else I missed.

I have it on my 2015 3.8 Ultimate.

I also had SXM Data on my previous car, a 2011 MKZ Hybrid. The presentation and features on the Hyundai really surpass what I had on the MKZ. But, on the MKZ I could call up the map with voice commands. Can't seem to do that on the Genesis.

Found it shortly after I bought the car last year. It's cool, but it should auto atically zoom in or allow you to zoom into the area where you are located with 1 button press as the GPS highlights your location on the map. Instead it defaults to the map of the entire US and it's somewhat slow and clunky to zoom into your local area.

Used it for a while. Doesn't zoom in very close. 8X.

It does put your location in the center of the display with one touch. After you zoom in to 8X hit the DIS knob and it centers on your location.

I've found it useful for approximating when the spring storms were about to hit my area.

Thanks- I'll give that a try. It would still be nice if that was the default view that popped up first versus the whole country!

It doesn't appear to be on the non-Ultimate model which is quite weird since my 2011 Sonata Turbo had it (it was fully loaded tho). I personally found it of limited usefulness but it looked cool. Still, Hyundai needs to give me Android Auto and I'll be good to go.

Did some more digging around and found some default settings you might want to change. Click on Weather & Security Alerts and click on the "Show Popup" box. Next if your a fisherman, click on the "Marine/Coastal" box. Next click the "Set Range" and change the default to a greater distance if you think it is necessary. I set mine to 200 miles do to travel alerts will pop-up in advance of arrival if one was present in the direction your traveling.

Next is to click on the "Prioritization Level" and switch it to "All". This will give you all the weather & security alerts instead of just the Severe ones. Next go back to your Weather main screen and set your "Favorites" to a local city to get a local forecasts. For you guys in the north you also have the option to set-up your favorite "Ski Resorts" to get the conditions. Miss the snow skiing and would love this feature but won't help me here in South Florida.

Now on to the Gas Station settings. You can program in your local favorite gas stations (even those out of town that you might frequent) and it gives you the current gas prices as well as we quick option to allow you to load it into the NAV system if needed.

Thanks - works as desrcibed. Makes it easier/more useful now. (Though still feel it should default to the zoomed in and centered view as that is what most folks are probably interested in seeing 99% of the time)

I couldn't find it on my "non-ultimate" either, although I really would like to track storm activity if I could.

As an aside, I almost bought the "Ultimate" version of the 2015 offerings - not because of the additional gadgetry (excuse me, "technology"), but because the dealer had one in Pamplona red - which looks really good. But, I settled for Montecito Blue which doesn't look too bad, either.

Not to mention that the Montecito Blue color is the fastest color too :D
