  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

what is the fastest 1/4 mile recorded or seen on a genesis 5.0 r spec?

theres a guy on youtube, vids show him smoking a 2014 stang 5.0 and a 2015 camaro ss. He said he ran a 12.6. That would be the fastest to my knowledge.

There are those who talk in these forums about toasting Mustang 5.0 with ease.. Well, this month Car and Driver shows a Mustang V6, nothing special, a rental fleet version doing the Qtr at 14.1 and 103.. Certainly if a Gen one cannot get under 13 seconds, no way will anyone be able to beat a 5.0 Mustang. Yet, they do. I believe those who tell their experiences over the various stats people use to slice and dice their numbers to make their pious points.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
No way any stock, or even reasonably modified 5.0 R-Spec will take a stock 2015 Mustang 5.0. Not possible. Not going to happen.

Or any 5.0 GT? Several reports in here (not me) of victories... Again, I believe those folks over stat debates. They are all first Generation Genny. Second gen Genny tune is just too heavy to be a contender for anything serious.

I have definitely beaten a few 2011-2014 gen 5 5.0 gt mustangs. But I have also had my arse handed to me by them. I have yet to run the newest gen 6 5.0l.
I have also only seemed to beat manual tranny cars. And one was definitely a missed shift.

Those who are saying an rspec could never beat a 5.0stang. Im laughing because theres video proof..The same guy beat a new ss camaro, with video proof.. Look at the vids before talking about something you have no clue about. I have personally beat two 5.0stangs. Close races but I beat both ive faced. One auto one stick.

Guys - I OWN a 5.0GT Mustang and a Gen 1 5.0 R-Spec. Perhaps there are crappy drivers out there and that is different. But car for car - equal driver. The 5.0 Mustang will kick the crap out of the 5.0 R-Spec all day long without question. No competition. Not talking about drivers here. Just car to car equal driver. The Mustang will run away from the Genesis. Period. The end.

It's simple power to weight. Stangs will trap 110-114 stock... Genesis 5.0 with really good air density at the track might hit 108-109 mph. The ET is all up to the driver.
Being able to beat another car that's more powerful comes down to traction more than anything. The guy in the mustang may have hot lapped on that run and his motor could be heat soaked. There's so many circumstances that's why racing is fun you never know who will win every time.

Ive yet to lose to a 5.0stang. Its a different story if the stang has gears n other mods. Dont get me wrong stangs are quick. But to say an rspec cant beat one, is just incorrect. Ive personally beat two 5.0s. Several other members on here as well have too. The guy in the video has as well. I have an intake on my Genny and borla exhaust. So the car is basically stock, though the intake alone makes the car sound more lively. What octane do you use in ur rspec, intake, exhaust? Hyundai alone has claimed using 93 instead of 87 nets the full 429 vs 420 on 87oct. Thats nine extra hp just for gasoline. Also as one member stated earlier dont get caught up on factory specs. Im a gm guy myself in currently own gm cars. I love the new stangs, they are nice vehicles but ive seen them fall to alot of cars you wouldnt expect them to lose against.

+1

Sure you can blame the losses on the driver, which is a great possibility. You have to understand that factory numbers supplied by the dealers are perfect weather conditions/ scenarios etc. Mustangs are lighter and tent to spin more during launching, add radials or another type of track tire. The stang would possibly win everytime. But these races were done in the real world, stock vs stock. Driver error or not, a win is a win..

enjoy the video of the rspec taking a 5.0stang.. guess that didnt happen.
You guys are hilarious.. Next time I will post a video myself of me racing a 5.0. Win or lose, but if I win whats the next excuse going to be? The stang missed a gear or he doesnt have properly inflated tires...etc etc..

I call BS. I drive both. The Stang is much faster. Period. It hooks better. It pulls harder. Its lighter. Its just faster and there isn't any exhaust or octane that will change that fact. Drive it. I own both. The R-Spec is a lovely and quick sedan. But people on here are really wishing it was/is the fastest on the road. its not......

Rspec is def not the fastest, but it is quick for a sedan. Mustangs are quick, but arent the fastest either. I have provided video proof of an rspec beating a Mustang. So that point has been proven. Should a mustang 5.0 beat an rspec, yes it should does it, yes in most cases im guessing. Has an rspec beat a stang 5.0 yes it has. Thats all im saying an have video to back it up. So why all fuss about it?? Your comment about a rspec never beating a 5.0stang has been proven to be false in that paticular case. Not every case but that one.

Motortrend has the 2014 stang 5.0 clocked at a 4.8 0-60 with an 13.2 1/4mile @ 108. Motortrend has the 2012 rspec 5.0 clocked at 4.8 0-60 with an 13.3 1/4mile @107.1... So the stang beats it by .1tenth of a sec. So if either driver makes the slightest mistake the other will take the win. The stang this guy raced was stock. The rspec has intake and nanny mod with different tires. So the win is very believable. I end my arguement with that. Either way both cars are nice..
