  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

has anyone else noticed hood flutter at highway speeds? i'm talking about the hood near the base of the windshield. when i'm going down the interstate at 65+ mph i've noticed a fair amount of flutter...especially if there is a head wind. checked under the hood and all seems tight. not too concerned about it, just wondering if others have noticed such behavior? thanks...

None noticed.......

Nope, never noticed it and I am 6'1". I will keep an eye out next time I am on the highway. I wouldn't be concerned providing everything is tight.

Hmm I will check again, but I've had the car up to triple-digit speeds (briefly in a passing scenario) and hadn't noticed it. I will look for it on my next road trip.

I noticed that in my 1G, some time ago, I even mentioned that on forum. Shame, they didn't "fixed" that in 2G.

The hood is aluminum to save on weight (don't ever try to sit on it). So it doesn't surprise me about the flutter, although I have never noticed it on my 1G.

so far it appears most hoods either don't have the minor flutter, or people just haven't noticed. am wondering if the windshield cowl replacement is in any way related to this flutter?

I've seen this topic come up before on the site for the 2015 model. Not sure what the results were. Suggest a search might get results.

Just took a 3 hour highway trip today and noticed the flutter. It seems to be more pronounced when going over rough highway, but still see it on smooth roads at 65-75mph. Interested to know if others are seeing this in their 2015?

I've had my car for a year now and have about 11k miles on it. I have not noticed any hood "fluttering", but I don't stare at my hood near the base of the windshield when I'm driving either. So, perhaps it's there but, at least on mine, it's not something that draws attention or is noticeable if you are not looking for it...

I often go through the spray car wash at gas stations (not the roller type). When leaving the powerful fans that blow the excess water off the car will make the hood flutter. It is pretty noticeable but I haven't really noticed this when driving.

Seems to me more of an issue with the steel hoods than the aluminium hoods..

I set the cruise at 80 on the turnpike on the way home and thoroughly inspected the hood line along the windshield and have zero flutter. For those experiencing this, what is your build date and have you had the service bulletin for the cowl done yet? I haven't had mine done yet and would like to know if that is causing this issue. My build date is noted below.

Try this- take some painter's tape and tape over the front of the hood where the gap is. The painter's tape won't leave behind any residue. Get the car up to flutter speed and try to make it flutter. If it does not, then remove the tape and put some weather srtipping or a rubber seal in that gap to prevent air from getting under the hood. If the flutter comes back after taping, it could be the seal on the back side of the hood up by the cowl or it could be aero force pushing down on the hood, in which case I can only think of hood deflector or bra, but I don't know if a bug deflector is even made for the Gen

Having owned a 1G black Genesis and then a 1G white Genesis, I tend to believe it's more noticeable on a darker vehicle. I definitely noticed a bit of "wavy" movement to the hood on the black car when going 70+mph. The first time I noticed it I freaked out that I hadn't closed my hood all the way and it was about to fly up and blind me/break my windshield.

On my white car I can't noticed it at all presumably because of how the sunlight reflects off of it compared to the black paint.
