  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm looking to get an aftermarket exhaust but I'd like to get some outside opinions on the matter

I'm looking for something to make it sound way meaner. I want to hear that V8 roar

Opinions?

Thanks so much in advance!

Magnaflow has the only cat back system at the moment unless you want to creat your own or member Huddleson has his custom exhaust.. not many options out there right now..

Ark might release something, but not any time soon since there's not a huge market out there for Genesis performance. I've been bugging them...to see if they can release the exhaust they used for their SEMA show car. Unfortunately, it drones like crazy and they're still testing it.

Drone is going to the main issue you face with a muffler or mid pipe set up. Cat deletes would help slightly but would probably leave something to be desired. I went with electronic exhaust cutouts placed just after the manifold and before the first set of cats.
The cutouts can be fully opened (essentially an open header) or completely closed and retain the stock sound. You can also open them half way or to any other degree you wish. IMO its the best of both worlds.

Can't get any more roar than what Huddleston has above :D

At the risk of revealing too much, just wanted to chime in and let you know that Ark will have my car for two weeks sometime in May or June to start protoyping a new exhaust. Of course, this is merely "step 1" so it may be a while until any of this sees fruition, if even at all. I have a 3.8 and they are looking for somebody local with a 5.0 who can do without their car for two weeks or so while they fabricate and mock things up.

Where are they located?

I am local with a 5.0 and more than willing to test.

I would love to see an axle back option to become available.

me to.. or use some magnaflow mufflers... I can tell the exhaust wants to have a little rumble.. I'm guessing just mufflers wont be to much drone since the cats and resonators are still in place...

Cross Ark out, they arent releasing anything for the 5.0 genesis :o(

Just the 5.0 or the 3.8 too? I emailed them last week and they told me that they are slammed but they will start at the end of the year.

My car is (was?) supposed to be one of the donor cars for their fitment and build. I was contacted initially about this back in March. Every month I touch base with them asking for a timeline so I can plan to not have my car for x amount of weeks and every month they say they are unsure but it is still a project they are planning to work on. The last time I spoke with them they were saying they were waiting for the ar550 to come out of the bodyshop so they could work on the 3.8 and the 5.0 concurrently since the exhaust designs aren't too different. That was two months ago.

The amount of unsurety on their part leads me to believe that the sedan isn't too high on their priority list, especially since there will probably be slim to no return of investment.
