If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Took the car to the dealer for service, with my pre-purchased Mobil 1.
Bought the 6 pack at Costco on sale for $25, and had extra quarts on hand.
Brought 7 qts. with me for the oil change, even though I believe it calls for 7.25 qts.
Dealer labor and filter with tax ran me $34, so my total cost with my own oil was about $65. They charged $15 just for labor which I thought was high, but overall, I think I did very well on price.
I watched over them just to be sure they poured in my oil, and not theirs.
Quite time-consuming removing the 2 covers to gain access to filter and drain.

I did the V8 oil/filter change a while back.

I would have charged $200 for the labor.

You got a bargain

Fergawdsakes, you would have paid $15 for labor in 1970!

I just got my 1st oil change in my leased '15 @ 3500 milles. My local dealer (Asheville Hyundai) charges $9 if you bring your own oil & filter. It's such a bargain that I take my wife's Toyota Sienna there to get the oil changed.

I get my Mobile 1 at Walmart in the 5-quart container and the other 1- quart containers at Costco when it is "on sale". I take 7.2 quarts to my dealer who charges me $20 for the labor plus the filter. Also includes the full inspection. I made this deal with the service manager when I bought my car when discussing the type of oil they use. I told him that I would only use Mobile 1 so he offered this solution.

I make an early morning appointment and spend about 45 minutes drinking coffee, looking at new cars, and talking to my service advisor. I am totally pleased with the deal.

Thanks for sharing this! I was thinking about getting the Mityvac to do a top engine oil change BUT I'm surprised that they're doing a standard oil change requiring the removal of the bottom covers. I would think to avoid the extra work, the engine top oil change would be easier. But thanks for sharing this. I'll drop by Costco to get the Mobil1 oil for my up coming FIRST scheduled oil change.

FYI Best time to get Mobil 1 is when they have a coupon sale (approx every 2 months) .....You can buy 6 for $27.00

I am a Costco member, but find that Mobil 1 in 5 quart jugs at Walmart is cheaper and more convenient, especially when I need to dispose of the used oil (at an auto parts store like AutoZone).

Also, Walmart has a wide variety of Mobil 1 products and viscosities, whereas Costco is extremely limited.

Awesome! I just check Costco's site and they currently have the sale going on now. THANKS MUCH for the tip!

Thanks much for chiming in Mark_888! I'll have to see what my local Costco have in stock and if not then will make a visit to Walmart.

Costco usually sells Mobil 1 in 6 quart cases (6 one-quart bottles in a box). They usually have two viscosities for standard Mobil 1 only (no Mobil 1 EP, etc).

Currently, Walmart sells a 5-quart bottle of regular Mobil 1 for about $23, and Mobil 1 Extended Protection for about $25.50.

Walmart also has Mobil 1 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy for the same price as regular Mobil 1.

Thanks again Mark_888 for the additional info. Definitely saving me some research time!

Buy my oil from BJ's and save a decent amount as well.

I've been using Walmart for many years, their oil jug prices are unbeatable.

Can someone confirm how easy/difficult is to change the filter cartridge from the top without creating a big mess?
Planning to do my own oil changes and want to avoid the hassle of removing the bottom covers.

Thanks!

There are some threads with pics on this subject (2015-2016 V6 only). You can use the forum search, or even google search to find the threads.

Yep, and if you look close at the labels, they usually have a Walmart logo on them (5-quart jugs only). Those folks move a lot of product, and the oil companies know it.

33.00 (5+1) Mobil 1 5W-30 EP - Amazon. At my door.
Used to buy at Walmart but always had a problem with the 1Q EP.
Tax included. Two day delivery under Amazon Prime.
Pretty convenient.

That's true.

You will have to use a Mity-Vac, or something like it, to remove the oil without removing a bottom panel to access the pan drain plug. I think on the V6, that the filter can be accessed from the top, with some difficulty.
