  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I bought my 2013 Genesis RSPEC 5.0 in June 2014. Original owner, and proud. Have 34000km on her, and that is approximately 20,000 miles for my American friends.

Car runs fine, and only issue was a defective head unit within the first few months of purchase.

Happy with car, and its a long term keeper.

Just wondering who else is an original owner of the 1st GEN Genesis, and how is it going?

I bought my 2011 Genesis 4.6 in November of 2012. It had 6,000 miles on it and was sold as used. But it has never been titled, so I am original owner with full OEM warranty and I didn't have to pay delivery fee. It has now 60,000+ miles.

Head unit amp was replaced once, AC compressor was replaced, one or two recalls were done, all under warranty. Plus I bought Hyundai Platinum extended warranty. The car is doing great, especially with Michelin summer tires. The best car I ever had.

Purchased my Black Noir Pearl 2009 4.6 Genesis in October 2008. So I have owned the car for nearly nine years. Five plus in Southern California and three plus in the Phoenix Arizona area. Currently has just over 38,000 miles. Did not purchase the Hyundai Platinum Extended Warranty. No mechanical issues at all. Car serviced every 7500 miles for oil and filter changes. Replaced the battery twice and the original tires once. The backup camera quit working about a year ago. Great car --- continue to get compliments on its beautiful appearance. Absolutely the best car I have ever owned during 76 my years! It's a keeper.

Bought my 2012 R-spec in December of '12 and have had only two problems with it:

1. A recall to replace a "faulty" windshield wiper motor (it was still working fine at time of replacement).
2. A turn signal stalk that was faulty.

I've got 4 vehicles so the Genny doesn't get out much but I love driving it when I get the chance and plan on keeping it forever.

bought my Pearl White 2012 3.6 With Premium Pkg in July 2012. It now has 39,000 miles on it and is exactly 5 years old today. A/C compressor replaced as part of a recall (it was making noise and actually quit while taking it in for the recall). Head unit replaced twice (w/2012 units) and finally replaced by the dealer with a NEW 2014 unit (Head unit and Brain) from a NEW 2014 Genesis 5.0 that was waiting for parts from Korea. It would have cost Hyundai/dealer 2 months of a rental car if they waited for another 2012 head unit to be sent (a known problem with 2012's, apparently). I ended up with a newer unit with upgraded maps, etc. Under warranty I've had to replace the turn signal/headlight stalk (headlights flashing when signaling a turn) and the drivers side mirror which would not always return to the original position if using it in tilt-down mode when in reverse. I am on my 3rd battery and attribute some of the electrical related issues to the Hyundai the independent Roadside Assistance tow truck that jumped my car when "dead" at 18K miles .... they used a "tray" of daisy-chained batteries (6 of them) and managed to fry the original head unit - this leading to the multiple replacements I experienced. Overall I really like this car and might look at the new G70 when it arrives.

2011 Genesis 4.6 purchased new September 2010. It now has 208,000 miles and is a great car. Very reialble. Only item replaced is the fuel tank guage sending unit after over 150,000 miles.

Overall, this is the most pleasing and enjoyable car I have ever owned. It's nearly six years old now.

I bought my 2013 Genesis Tech in August 2014. It was a non titled Dealer car with 5000 miles. It has 18000 miles on it now, and it has been "perfect" since day one......Because it was on the dealers lot for a year, I talked them into $13,000 off the sticker price.

We purchased our 2010 4.6 one year old with 5k. It just turned 100k and besides the few recalls, only other issues have been minor - steering tilt switch, power seat switch and inside driver door handle. Besides regular maintenance, that's been it. A few sets of tires and only one battery (and havent yet had to put brakes on it). Just purchased my wife a 2015 3.8 so the 2010 is going to my 24 yr old son. Its not worth anything in the used market, so I will let him dive it for a year or two until he can afford to buy something on his own.

I bought my 2014 R-spec in April 2015 (at a good discount) brand new from a dealer who had several R-specs left over from the previous year. From a different dealer I bought the platinum extended warranty. Now, a little more than 2 years later, it's now got about 32K, and I haven't yet needed a repair. I agree with others who say that the Genesis is the nicest car we've ever owned. By a lot.

wow 208,000 miles! very nice. How was some of the normal maintenance assuming you have done the following?
Transmission fluid
Strut replacement
Spark plug and or coil pack replacement
new brakes and rotors
etc.

I am the 2nd owner of my car and now nearly 84,000 miles

I own a 2009 Pearl White Genesis. I am the original owner. Love the car! Very few issues and I have over 120k miles on it.

I purchased my 2009 Genesis, black / black, 3.8 Premium, on July 18, 2009. I rolled over 34,000 miles yesterday. Miles are skewed as in the last four years I've averaged only 2,000 miles annually. Never had any repairs. Swapped out the OEM Dunlop tires at 15,000 miles for Continental Pure Contacts, which are far superior. Replaced the battery last winter though the original was fine, but I felt it was time it should be replaced.

My intent is to keep it for the balance of the 10 year warranty, then purchase a Genesis CV-??? or Hyundai Sante Fe as my tastes have moved to crossovers. I'll be 70 then and the ease of entry/exit, plus the addition of Apple Carplay plus the new tech such as cross traffic alerts, blind spot monitoring and auto emergency braking will entice me out of my low low mileage Genesis.

We are the original owners of a 2009 Genesis 3.8 which we purchased on 8/22/08. At the time of purchase it had 40 miles on it. Right now, today (8/1/17) it has 343,975 miles on it. Runs like a top! The one & only "issue" is the driver's seat cover is showing wear. No engine issues. No fluid leaks. We constantly get compliments on it. People are shocked when they see the mileage. Been a great car. Now it is a matter of seeing how long it will keep rollin on. Who knows, we may just get that driver's seat recovered!

2013 Genesis RSpec purchased new March of 2013.
Currently has 11,600 miles. Yes, not even 12,000 miles.

Bought my '12 R-Spec Sedan in '12. Have replaced the rubber weather stripping around the trunk under warranty. The front right parking sensor turned on fulltime, replaced under warranty. Drivers side mirror is now loose, will take into dealership to replace, P0841 is occasionally showing on CEL, turned off but going to take it to the dealership. The Car is on its third set of tires in 72K miles. Used the OE Continentals every time. On my second windshield ,it seems to crack easily. Very happy with car, fast, comfortable. Seems to burn oil, 2 qts every 5K miles. Oil change every 5K miles.

bought mine back in 2009 (MY2009)
currently I have 150000+ miles on odo
never had any issue before

I bought my 2011 Genesis V8 4.6 Brand New in August of 2010...... It only has about 76,000 Miles on it and has been pretty much flawless.... We will trade this in next April for a 2018 Genesis probably AWD 3.8 .... Loaded with all the Options.

Also have a 2014 R-Spec with about 30,000 Miles on it...... Flawless as well...

Used to be a Lexus Owner until I found the Genesis !

I am original owner, 2011 white genesis 3.8 with NAV...after 6 years, not impressed with paint quality, engine noises during cold startup, many electrical issues related to suspected quality of switches (turn signals, windows, locks, headlights blinking off when signal is self cancelling. The dealer, Harbor Hyundai, in Long Beach, California, has been reluctant to honor several of these issues.... paint warranted for 3 years only, engine noise is "normal" for this model, and, if you happen to notice, the record for reliability of this model, is the same as a Chevrolet....Not that great! This is according to Consumer Reports, whose data is compiled from actual owners of the vehicles!! Resale value has dropped like a rock these last few years, I think the word is spreading that these vehicles seem like a good value, but in fact, are poor values if you want reliable service from your car. Needless to say, I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER HYUNDAI!!!!

I have been around here on and off, almost since the birth of this forum.
I leased, then bought the 'Golden princess' which was the first 4.6 V8 that was sold in GA, back in October 2008. I gave it to the Mrs in Apr of 2014 and picked up a demo 2013 white R-Spec for a song.
Other than a blown engine due to a dealer mishap and one or two minor things, both darlings have been the most reliable and enjoyble vehicles I have ever owned.
91k & 34k miles respectively.
