  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GENESIS announces Pricing starting at $34,900 | Markets Insider

It appears pricing has been announced. Thoughts? Looks like it's cheaper/about the same as a Stinger. Guess that's why they didn't want everyone comparing the two. I'm definitely cool with paying 51.5k for the 3.3T Sport AWD one. I had wanted the Design edition but it appears it doesn't have electronically controlled suspension.

Thanks. When I first Googled it. It wasn't coming up.
No configuration is up at this moment so I’m guessing either tomorrow or Friday for that to go live.

I sure hope so. I'd like to see what colors are available in the configuration I want.

What configuration are you doing??

Great to finally see pricing today and that it is inline with what was suggested. Press release seems kinda sloppy to me. Summary pricing at top does not include all trims. Titles sometimes lead with Genesis G70, other times lead with 2.0T, 3.3T. But I'll take it! :)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Did I read this right? They all have "Shift By Wire"? I hope I read that wrong. (Don't like shift by wire - tried it in the Stinger GT2).

BTW. I like the 2.0T Elite.

That's a LOT of car for $50K. While I have been waiting, I expected it to end up quite a bit more. But, of course, the tariff situation can change day by day.

The 2019 Stinger GT2 AWD gets all of the missing features back. It now has heated rear seats, 360 degree camera and wireless charging. So "option for option" it is now a match for the G70. But with those "should have been there in the first place" features comes a price increase to $52,190. So the G70 3.3T Sport HTRAC is actually $690 less. That doesn't seem like much until you add in that the Stinger doesn't come with remote start, so add in $495 more if ya want it (you also need an extra keyfob to use it). Kia doesn't offer connected services in the US on lower tier models (its available on the K900). So that doesn't include being able to use the smart phone app, smart watch, Alexa, etc. to set temp, unlock the doors, start the car and so on. Lastly, the G70 comes with 3/36 free maintenance. I don't feel that the larger cargo space and more rear seat room are worth the extra cash.

I’ve driven the 18’ Kia Stinger GT2. It’s a nice car, I had nice power output but I wouldn’t dare pay $52K for a Kia Stinger. For that I go and either get a BMW 340i or a Genesis G70.

That just means it's an electronic gear lever... Same one you've seen in every single photo to date except the 6MT. There's no shift cable - hence "shift-by-wire."

I'm a little disappointed to be honest. I was cautiously anticipating the 3.3 Sport to be $50-52k so I got that part right but the disappointing part is that it's still a full $7k USD higher than the price in Canada (after conversion). I know the trims aren't exactly the same, taxes are different, and we can try to negotiate the price but but I was secretly hoping that it would top out around $49.5k to really stand out against the competition.

I like the Prestige model but at $45k for the 2.0 AWD or $50k for the 3.3 AWD I'm not sure I can justify it. For $30-35k I can get a loaded 2019 Sonata or Optima which have about the same power as the 2.0 and most of the same features. It wouldn't look nearly as good or be as fun to drive but on the other hand I can do a lot of fun stuff with that extra $15-20k.

With any luck we'll be able to negotiate these and get some great deals like poeple are on the Stingers.

The increasing 2.0T trims are more expensive than I expected. It seems the manual is indeed cut down like what the Maine reviewers showed.

It's been noted here countless times that you can't simply look at the CAD-USD conversion and go "presto, that should be the U.S. price!" Currency conversion doesn't work that way. Ditto comparing a G70 to a Sonata - you can line up features all you want, but the G70's more sophisticated chassis, higher-quality interior, and additional ownership benefits all have tangible value.

I agree. It did get the missing features, but it didn't have connected services which I felt the 2019 should have had, especially since the Optima has it. They're still screwing up at Kia in my opinion. So are you getting the G70?

I did not know that Kia was altering its infotainment systems starting with the 2019 Optima. So it looks like UVO Link and UVO Link with Navigation now offer smartphone remote start, locking/unlocking, etc. So that makes this even worse. Its available but again something that is left off the Stinger.

I would like to drive the G70 first. Check out the complaints in person (backseat fitment, etc.). But it is on my short list for sure.
