  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just curious as to what other 3.3 Sport owners are setting their Custom drive mode parameters as. I'm using Eco setting for engine and AWD and Comfort setting for steering and suspension. I do a lot of highway driving so I thought I would set it that way. I haven't gone through my owners manual yet, but I am guessing I'm duplicating the Eco mode with my settings.

You're right, that's a duplication of the car's Eco setting. I use Custom one of two ways depending on whether I'm in a 2.0T or a 3.3T Sport. In the 2.0T I tend to use it to pair the heavier Sport steering and Sport AWD with the Comfort powertrain setting, because I like the heavier steering and pointier RWD feel without having the car sit below top gear on the highway.

In the 3.3T I tend to use it differently, making it Sport mode for rougher surfaces. I set everything to full Sport except the suspension, which I leave in Comfort. This is ideal for back roads with poorer quality pavement, as it helps the car stay more settled.

Like @PD705 I have everything in my custom setting set to sport with the exception of the suspension which I keep in comfort. I find this good for most daily driving and stop and go where I basically want the car to act like it is in sport mode, except that with the shitty roads it is nicer to have the suspension in comfort. If there is a smooth offramp or some turns coming up, it is easy to move one setting over to full sport.

Besides those settings I use Eco when I am using cruise on a freeway or highway and know I won't be touching the pedals for some time. I never keep it in comfort and and find the smart to be too slow to change settings and more of a gimmick than anything useful.

I'm experimenting with everything in Sport mode except for the engine which I set to eco. Feels sporty and doesn't kill me on gas ... I have a feeling I’m going to change it at some point ...

Have any of you guys seen the review by Throttle House? He talks about the side bolsters of the seat and how they loosen up when you take the car out of sport mode? Is there a way to permanently leave the bolsters in the tightest position? I have an "athletic" frame (wide shoulders and upper back with a thinner oblique and waist area and think that the tightest position will feel good for me but don't want to deal with the seat changing bolster positions.... any word on the functionality of the adjustable bolsters?

There is a setting to disable that!

How's throttle response on Eco and Comfort modes?

It's fine. I find that when I switch to Sport or the programmed Custom, the throttle response takes a bit to get used to as it is very touchy.

I only use Sport Mode. :D

I always recommend Comfort Suspension/Sport everything else for Custom mode to my clients. Edmonton roads are rough!

Yes, and I turned that off right away as it is annoying. A cool thing for the salespeople to show people and I remember at the auto show in Edmonton lots of people saying how cool it was. But in real life it stupid imo.

I still get to feel the side bolsters tighten and loosen when I open or close the door during the easy access or whatever Genesis calls it and that I like. I feel loved when I close the door and the seat tightens on me. lol

I keep my custom in sport suspension (I like minimal body roll for onramps and don’t find it too rough overall), sport steering (heavier feel), and comfort powertrain (more than enough power, way better than sport on gas).

Does anybody know exactly what setting the AWD mode to custom or sport does?

I wish the G80 had this option

Would the Sport/RWD bias for the custom setting on AWD models help with MPG?
That I don’t know...sorry. But if I were to guess...it takes more energy to drive all 4 wheels?

The fuel economy ratings are a touch better for the RWD...1 MPG highway better. City is the same...

I am sure the different AWD settings in custom have minimal effect on mileage and wouldn't be noticeable. I would just pick your favorite and go with that.

What drive mode selection is everyone using for winter driving? Also, how is the power distributed between front/rear for the different drive modes? I believe I read that sport is 10/90 for front/rear.

I think sport is 20/80 unless the nannies are disabled then its 10 rear/90 front
