  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

If not does anyone know the annual fee?

Go to their site to see plans. Not free.

Bluelink is the name of the plan.

Is free. You have a G80. It’s free for the first 3 years (unless you bought it used).

Thanks EdP! You seam to have all the info. What I found said $79.00 but that was an old article. But I learned alot from it Assurance, Essentials and Guidance. And I assume you still need map updates and SiriusXM traffic to have the whole package at another $179.00. I know they are free for 3 years but when purchasing a car at this price I usually plan to keep it 5 years and I want to know what I am getting into.
Thanks to everyone for the help.

I was kinda thinking this was a scam but I notice that Ford has it and with the 2018 Honda Accords they also have it. Now I believe the Accords still have a fob remote start but you can start your car from a much further distance with the phone app. The Honda package is $260.00 per year. So I'm guessing this is the way of the future.

I know the rules of the site are don’t say anything unless you can say something negative or “what a shame” or “too bad” 😀 but nonetheless I am somewhat surprised no one has commented on
The G70 having
  • Lifetime complimentary traffic data via HD+ Traffic radio
Pleasantly surprised me although I confess I don’t know what it means.

I was wondering the same thing myself while reading the article. They mentioned that the data will be there like how song titles are displayed but reading that does not seem very feasible while trying to drive in traffic. I would hope somehow it is fed into nav and routes adjusted as needed.

Even if you buy it used, you get the remaining balance. I bought my G80 Sport with 10k miles & they transferred the 2 years & 6 months that remained. I did have to call into support & have the account changed as the vin was still under the previous owner. This required me to send a copy of the bill of sale, my drivers license, & registration. Once that was sent, they changed it in about 15 minutes. I have all 3 connected services at no cost.

Some manufacturers use XM radio for a similar purpose. They basically use the signal of the XM radio and GPS tracking to fill in the data of cars that have XM radio traffic sub. An Audi S3 I had did that but it cost $ after the first month and I told them to pound salt.

So the somewhat spooky concept is that technically even without an active subscription your XM radio is connected to the XM service and is pinging off of their satellite services constantly. Hundreds of thousands of cars doing that at a time will paint a traffic picture. It's same concept as how Google Maps does their traffic but with less requirement of internet/cell connectivity. I'll probably never use the built in one but it's nice for those that don't want to use their phone for maps.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
In order to subscribe to the Remote service (this is the iTunes app) for $99/year, you must also subscribe to Connected Care for $99/year. Remote is NOT a standalone service. So, if you want Remote, it is $198/year.

Look like we have a few more years then it will be obsolete on my 2018 G80.

Ugh, what a shame. I wonder if after-market modifications would be around to allow you augment the vehicle to facilitate connectivity to a different network? If it's properly abstracted I'd imagine that the hardware used should be transparent to the software underneath. 🤔

Interesting. Porsche uses a service called TMC which I do not pay for. It seems to work ok but the Genesis system (HERE+?) seems (early days) to be better.

Of course Porsche has a better Comms option called PCM which you have to pay for. I’m too cheap so didn’t get it just like I hate having to pay Genesis to start my car after the 5 years runs out. So if HERE is lifetime free, I’m happy.

I had an Infiniti Q50 with connected services and it had communication hardware that became obsolete. All of the same warnings were passed around about the vehicle might not work after the outdated network was dropped by the carrier. Nevertheless, Infiniti and SiriusXM came out with a hardware upgrade for Infiniti vehicles that replaced the obsolete communication hardware with newer technology so the connected services could continue to work.

I would expect Genesis and SiriusXM to do the same for Genesis vehicles that have hardware that is expected to sunset, but they likely won't say anything until very near the cutoff so as to ensure the upgrades are available and work properly.

pretty sure the G80 uses 4G-LTE not 3G. older pre-2015 models that had blue link used 3G. near as I can tell from some google searching >2015 is 4G.

p.s. This is exactly what I just got done doing today. Same car (‘18 G80 Sport) and same process. Got the remaining balance of the service completely free. I spoke with a kind lady named Candice and she basically had me all wrapped up within 30mins or so (emailed copies of paperwork). They are doing a fantastic job taking care of us as new Genesis owners (as new owners, not necessarily new cars).

Just too bad we couldn’t also get the free maintenance too! 😭
