6000km is different than 6k miles. Thats actually at about 3700 miles, which sounds right for them to let you know you might not need it yet. However I would NEVER go more than 6 months between oil changes on a turbo car, no matter how little miles youre putting on itMy service indicator came on, at 6000km, when I called Genesis, they said I did not require a service until 1 year. (Richmond, BC)
My Audi S5 with the turbo V6 has a 1 year or 10k miles oil change interval. So this seems pretty low to me for oil changes6000km is different than 6k miles. 3000 miles is the severe schedule, 6k is the normal. this is comparable to my last car and as far as I know, all turbo cars. I looked through my service schedule in the manual and nothing sticks out to me as more than any other car. (except maybe spark plugs, they want those changed out a little sooner than I normally would have in my last car)
if youre worried about that, I would recommend staying away from this car. Like any car in this msrp range, you need to budget in increased repair costs, increased maintenance cost just by the fact that the parts are better/more expensive/higher performance. A Honda Civic this car isntI do a lot of short distance driving. Less than 4 miles, so it would likely apply for me. Could get expensive.

10,000km for turbo and 12,000km for non turbo Genesis in Canada.
Does Canada use a different oil? My dealership uses a semi synthetic for the g70 but I don’t have a clue how Canada would tell you a different schedule for the same car in the US unless they were maybe using a much higher quality oil. Even then, a yearly oil change on a high strung turbo’d car seems...sketch^ +1, this is the service interval i have on file for my G70.
Mine says 6k miles/6 months for the normal scheduleHas anyone checked the USA manual yet? I've been too lazy. If nobody has...I can check.

Well the traditional wisdom was 3500k miles and then went up to 6k so it’s possible that the line has moved again with technology. In my personal opinion I still think it’s better to be on the safer end and that preventive maintenance is the one thing I don’t want to skimp on. I should also add that I bought this car and am keeping it for 7-10 years so that factors into my decision making and my sense of what’s safe for the car over that long of a term (especially how I drive it).I honestly don't think a year is too long. Engines are designed better nowadays...and oils are much better.
My prior few cars...using synthetic...I was doing 7,500 miles...absolutely no issue with that.
