  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi , so this is a question on maybe some settings in the car that i want to setup .
The car was ok (i think) , but during a test for head unit the Hyundai Dealership reset the car. Now all those lane assist , collision warning etc are set to factory default.

Case 1
When i change lane using the turn signal , say i am changing the lane to the left lane - i almost all the time get the collision warning since there is always a vehicle on the left lane. All i am doing is changing the lane to my immediate left lane .

Case2
When i take any exit from the freeway - say the right 2 lanes are for the exit , and i am on the 2nd from the right lane . I put the left indicator on , and car is thinking i am going to change lane . It starts detecting other vehicles in the right lane and starts beeping for collision .

In both cases above , can the indicator not tell the system to be more intelligent .

I don't know about case number two but in case one it sounds as if you are changing lanes while the car thinks you need to wait until you have more room to move over. I get that a lot and have been trying to be less "aggressive" in my merging and lane changing. So far, I have failed.

yes say from left ... Lane 1 / Lane 2 / Lane 3 .
I am changing from Lane 3 to Lane 2 .... and with the left indicator ON it monitors Lane 2 . I move over safely to Lane 2 ... and suddenly it starts beeping all over since Lane 1 has traffic .

I have to quickly turn off the left indicator as soon as i move to Lane 2 , otherwise the beeping goes on .

If you lightly press the signal stalk before a lane change, it will only blink (as I recall) 3, 5, or 7 times depending on what number you have set it to in the setup screen. That may be what got reset when they reset your head unit. I keep mine on three blinks.

It has sensors, not a brain.
Case 1 If there is a car on the left of you in the blind spot range it will signal It is supposed to warn you. Yes, sometimes you can see the car in your mirror.

Case 2 If the signal is on and cars are present, it will beep. It thinks you are changing lanes, it does not know they are going parallel to you.

Sounds like it is doing as intended, warning you cars are in the path if you change lanes as indicated. It senses other cars, not your intentions.

There is just this page in the manual - and this is what's happening .
I am changing lane to the immediate left lane ..... and the left indicator is ON .
After i have moved on to the lane .... it starts this SECOND STAGE alert .

Beeps and vibrates the steering - super annoying sometimes.

I will try the LKAS -> post-departure mode to see if that can fix this .

normal behavior. mine does it as well, with the signal on the BSM is alerting you to traffic in your blind spot as you are indicating a lane change. one you change lanes it is now sensing the vehicles in the lane to the left of you that you are not changing to, but the signal is still on.

using the 3,5,7 lane change option as stated above and the signal will cancel itself, if you leave it fully on it will alert every time a car passes you. until you can it.

-- in case 2, keep in mind that the BSM functions above 20mph, so if you are in a double left or double right turn lane and are making a sweeping turn with others in the adjacent lane that are in and out of your blind spot, the BSM will alert.

I have this LOOOOOONG off ramp that I get off every morning to drop my kid at school, the ramp has 2 left and 2 right turn lanes, and is long enough for 25+ cars, as such before you hit the end of the ramp and start your turn, you are doing 20mph, so my BSM goes completely wonky alerting me that there are cars in my blind spot as I am turning in the outside left turn lane, because there are lots of cars in the inside turn lane that are in and out of my blind spot as we make the turn.

Someday in a Genesis 2025 model , i hope the car will auto change lanes ....

After looking at the recent ELECTRIC Genesis Mint photos - it looks like they want to go electric .

Every car maker wants a share of Tesla's success . If anyone has to compete with Tesla , its the auto pilot / self driving area they need to work on .

what every car maker want isn't always in line what every customer wants. I like the driving aids for my daily commuting, but I still prefer to be in control of my car, don't need or want a computer doing it for me..

I hadn't seen the Mint before, but that is another home run concept car from Genesis. That performance electric from last year was also a beautiful effort.
