  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have gotten used to it on my wife's Tesla Model 3. While I have to override it every 5-10 minutes, I really love it. I know the Genesis isn't as 'smart' as the Tesla, and even the Tesla isn't as smart as Elon say it is, but I want it on my next car.

However, I had to take over about 3 times in 5 minutes during a test today, and I was tempted a couple times more. It stayed right on the inside line on curves - actually hitting the Bott's Dots a couple of times, and then it would go too far to the other side after the turn was finished.

I would really appreciate hearing from others who use it regularly, and/or others who attempted, but decided to give up because it just wasn't ready for prime time. Does it have learning capability?

Thanks for your help,
Richard

Agree with the above. It is to prevent distracted or inattentive driving and not intentional hands free operation. I notice my car seems to drift close to the left line limit before correcting, rather than centering, at least more so than I would do. I use it less when traffic is thick than when light, in other words when I might look away.

Well - On that test drive - I had to assist it to stay in the lane, not the other way around.

I find that the lanes must be clearly marked on both sides, continuous, and other limitations to the operation as per the T&C in the manual.

The default settings aren't designed to fully drive for you. Crank it up and that sucker will hold your lane through a curved freeway on ramp with no issues - ask me how I know. I believe the option you want is "active LKA" and the activation setting should be set to the option that states it should kick in before you cross the line. Feels pretty damn close to what I would call auto pilot at times, though I've never driven a Tesla. It does become a little annoying at times though because it will always be trying to keep lanes for you and almost fight you a bit. I've definitely experienced the system misreading a line and had to take corrective action before it did something unfortunate.

It’s cooperative effort. You steer a little, it steers a little. I leave mine on all the time in the “standard” mode. Also i have it set so that it does not beep at me but gives haptic feedback. I enjoy having it on. Never even think of turning it off.

There are 3 settings in the cluster. One is purely haptic feedback with no intervention. One will let you wander in the lane and only intervens at the last second. The 3rd is pretty strong but I end up fighting it a ton as it hate's super quick aggressive driving - and yes I am using my blinker - but it will do a pretty good job.

Also, as other's said lines have to be pretty distinct but even then it gets confused if there are old lines or lines that were shifted due to construction.

Ditto with my new G70 3.3 prestige. Gets too close to the left line.

The latest 'Car & Driver' magazine has an ad for the soon to be Kia SUV. It seems to hint that it may include a better active driving assistant.

The Telluride already has HDA (Highway Driving Assist) which the Korean G70 has.
There's a Korean video of two journalists trying it out on the G70 cruising on the highway.
I tried to find it in the engineering menu but it's not in any of the English menus.

From what I understand, highway driving assist is pretty close to what we have now. Just doesn't bug you to put your hands back on the wheel like our cars do. Although, sometimes mine doesn't bother me to put my hands on like it should. Gone like 10 min before without touching the wheel once. Mine works well. Doesn't stay too close to the left or anything. I've been impressed, and I've had way less fatigue from driving with it. Of course, my eyes are always on the road.

I remember when I got our 2015 Genesis Ultimate how intrigued I was by this feature. It worked well just couldn’t handle anything other them a smooth curves and the duration with hands off wheel was very short 10 seconds at most. When I tried it on the G70 I was pleasantly surprised at how much the system had improved. The first time I took my hands off the wheel it went that way for a good 5 minutes might have gone longer but I grabbed the wheel when the road got busy. In later attempts the time varied from long to 10 seconds still don’t understand the variation in warning time but the system works very well it can take fairly tight turns and maintain good center control. Though I never really use it except testing it definitely works well.

May have something to do with the driver attention system. Admittedly, I never really look at that screen nor do I know how it gauges your attention to the road, but it could logically factor in as a determinant for the alerts

I really think it has more to do with road conditions. I've noticed when things get busy with lots of other cars around, and/or road markings being somewhat unclear, the system tells me to put my hands on the wheel and/or watch out for other cars.
