  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Help please!

Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
I have a 2015 genesis sedan 3.8 v6. And I brought the car used it has 57k miles, I was driving and the check engine light came on, I took it to advance Auto and they ran the code it was for the crankshaft position sensor. So i took it to the dealer ship and after a week, waiting on a harness, which was the cause apparently. Got the car back drove for home and the check engine light was back( checked code and same crankshaft position sensor). Today I disconnected the battery terminals and joined them as to drain all power from the car to see if it needed a bigger reset. But it's back again any idea?

Pull codes again. Then replace the sensor instead of the harness. Sounds like the dealer didn't fix it.

I will when I get off in the morning. And that's what I'm going to tell them( replace the actual sensor). They said it was the harness that had shorted out so I'm guessing that's all they replaced.

999% of the time it's the sensor that fails. I would ask to see the old harness which is probably in a landfill by now.

Yeah hyundai had the car for over a week but oh well... We'll see what they have to say later today when I go there

What did they charge you to replace crankshaft sensor ?

ive had to replace two of those sensors so far, wiring harness seems pretty sturdy to me. I pack a spare sensor now they are so common lol
