  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys -

My 2nd G70 post, and it's another complaint. :)

So, I have the Lexicon system, and to me, I can't get rid of this "sound" that recalls to me the days my old speakers were blown.

The "s" sound on any talk radio or song is very, very .."Trebely" and "tinny" - I had a 2017 G80 with a Lexicon, that did NOT sound like this. This tinny sound is driving me crazy. Even going "0" Trebel, I still hear it.

Anyone else having this issue? I feel like I should talk t the dealer about it.

Jerry

I agree that the audio sounds like it has a bit too much treble for my liking. I went in and adjusted my sound settings and made it a bit better. I think my settings are Bass +1 Mid Range -1 Treble -2

Had this issue too, but I slowly realized I had been used to bass heavy systems. After I while I changed the eq back to flat, sometimes adding 1 or 2 points to bass

Resetting the system also might help. Every salesman turns up all the dials to max for whatever stupid reason.

^In addition to those suggestions, if you turn off the audio enhancements in the settings menu I find that you get a better (in my opinion) sound. I think is a "stage" mode, and also clari-fi or something that really exacerbates that tinny sound. I thought there was something else that did made it worse, too, like HD Radio or something. I can't remember.

Also, i think I have my bass set to +6 or something. Haha.

Anyway, I doubt the dealer would be much help for this type of situation.

Wow. There is no doub that my hearing sense is completely lost due to my many childhood tonsillitis and my shooting practices when adult. I have my Treble at +10, Mid at +2 and Bass at +9
Lol I'm f****ing deaf.

Edit: my wife told me and I didn't believe her.

SO, I thought I was as deep as I could go in the settings, and changed all that I could, but I decided to turn "off" the "Clari-Fi™" - " Lexicon's patented sound algorithm for compressed audio sources" ....that made a huge sound difference and much of the "tinniness/sound" went a way - I have a hard time describing the problem - but anyway, this setting was a huge culprit in the tinny /scratchiness that was evident throughout. So whatever that does, it was doing a bad job in my opinion.

Granted, I still have to turn the treble way down - more so that I EVER had to in ANY car I owned, even my prior Genesis. Still not super thrilled with this system, because I think this quirk is very odd, and the fact I have to find a "workaround" to enjoy music is not normal.

The Lexicon system is garbage. There is absolutely zero bass. The highs are excellent though. I have issues with sound cutting in and out. It doesn't go all the way out, seems like the front speakers go silent for a couple of seconds and come back on. I replace all the door mid range speakers with Kicker D series 6.75in. I couldn't really tell a difference. So I bought some dynamat hoping it would help with bass and road noise. If you plan on putting deadner in I would advise against it. Pain in the Ass. I couldn't get the interior door panels all the way off. Made for a very difficult instal.

I just got a G70 2020. Coming from an Audi Coupe (A5) with the very great B&O system, I was concerned about the quality of the Lexicon. After playing with the settings, I came up with base - neutral; mid and treble both - +3. Seems to be about the best i can do. Considering the terrific performance and luxury of the car, I'm satisfied with the Lexicon system. I only listen to SXM. I don't have the problem that the original poster presented, i.e., tinny distorted sound..

As others have suggested turn off the enhancements for the subjective best sound. I find all the enhancements CAN be alright but it really depends on the source music and I don't like what they do to HQ tracks. Subjective.

Also G80 Lexicon > G70 Lexicon.

I have G80 demo right now and am beyond impressed with the sound system. So good....

Could be the thicker sound dampening in the G80. The glass is much thicker and it blocks out road noise far better

^Or maybe the underseat subwoofers on the G80 actually work. Haha.

*I have no idea if the G80 has underseat subwoofers.

😬

Tbh, I hear/feel mine working all the time. Maybe this hippity-hoppidy electronic dance jazz just has an abundance of low frequencies.
I thought about testing it to verify the results other people got (forgot who), but I'm frankly too lazy

Definitely noticed the quieter interior vs the G70 which is no surprise. There is wayyy more low end in the G80 than my G70 and the subwoofers are working in my G70. I'm guessing here but there must be better processing/DAC in the G80. I've never heard the radio sound so good.

I hear mine too, or at least I think I do. Regardless the bass thumps and Im happy with it. Now one thing I cant figure out....does the speed dependent volume control option actually work? Ive had mine on for a while and I cannot tell any volume change as my speed goes up or down
