  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just started to have problems with the back up camera. No display but the grid lines does show up. I got the head unit replaced two months ago. So I'm not sure if it is the camera or the head unit connection. No warranty on the car.

Back in 2010. My 2009 had this problem. It was a loose connection. Do NOT do this.
I put car in reverse with e break on. Opened and closed trunk I could see screen flash on. Then I pulled the camera and confirmed loose connection. Cleaned and reinstalled.

I just said what I did which was dumb. 😁

A year ago or so no image was appearing when I put the car in reverse. This would happen 1 out of every 10 times and Hyundai could never replicate the issue. After a few times of shutting the trunk hard it never happened again. I'd assume the connection was loose.

I've had this identical issue on my '09 3.8 V6... it seems to have gone away. It's been about 5 months since it's happened. The funny part to me is that I also live in Nova Scotia, and just happened to come on here for the first time in several weeks and see your post :D

I have a problem with my backup camera. When I put the car in reverse, the camera is fine and then a second or 2 later it goes black for a second or two before coming back on. It does it essentially every single time and it's really annoying because it always blacks out right in the middle of me backing up. Does anyone else have the same issue. By the way, mine's a 2015.

I have seen it on my 2016 a few times. I determined it had to do with the computers booting up. I found that if I start the car as soon as I get in and then put my seat belt on, adjust the seat if necessary, adjust the sound system, etc that the backup camera works fine.
If I start the engine, put in reverse quickly, it may or may not go blank for a second.

problem is still there. I tried to clean the connections but it didn't help. will probably just drive like that I don't really use the camera when backing up . I'm old school I turn my head.

My 13 R spec is the same. Seems very much like a connection or wire issue as it is not a constant problem.

I first noticed that the electric trunk release on the lid itself quit working, then about 2 weeks later the camera wound give me the "blue screen of death" but the guide lines were still there and would move with the steering wheel. Thankfully it is sill under warranty, took it to the dealer and it was a loose connection. Sorry but no one in the service department could/would tel me where the connection was.

As I mentioned in my message to you.
Try this

Always lock your car.
When approaching your car, hit the unlock button on your Fob.

When you lock the doors, the computer shuts down.

When you hit the unlock button, it starts the computer boot up process.

You know how your PC frigs up from time to time, or your i Phone. Shutting it down gets it to resort itself on boot up.

I had the exact same problem plus not being able to access the map screen.

After I started locking the doors and proceeding as I have mentioned, I HAVE NOT HAD THAT PROBLEM SINCE.

Give it a whirl, hopefully works for you all too.

Yes having this problem now what did you do to fix problem

I bought a camera on Amazon that attached to my plate and did rewire iit to the existing. Works great cost was less than $30

I am having the same problem. It was intermittent and would work sometimes and not others. If I use the palm of my hand and bang the camera it would start working but recently that does not work. I noticed in cold weather it does not work.
Hyundai tells me I need a new camera for $1000. There is no after market cameras for the Genesis V6 2010 model.
