  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm currently using Uniden R7. Works great but I miss my V1 JBV1 setup. Waze with andriod auto is great as well.

Escort 360 for me. Along with the Escort App on phone.

Northern Virginia traffic being what it is, there is no real need for a radar detector. It's only when I get an hour west or south can I start to play...
Given that detectors are illegal in Virginia, I chose the Radenso Pro M, which is supposed to be pretty invisible to radar detector detectors used by the police. I also make sure only to use it when the cost/benefit ratio is strongly in favor of its placement on the dash... Waze is also useful.

Just installed this. Cobra Road Scout. It's a radar detector and dash cam in one. So far I am very pleased.

I have a Uniden which works great when you use it!!!! I usually don’t have it on around the city and of course last week I got nailed by a motor officer going 95 on an access road that runs alongside the freeway. No traffic in front of me driving home from work when I decide to hit it! Yep I look over and see a motor officer putting his ticket book away and of course he jumps on his bike, hits his lights, and here he comes! I pull over before he even gets to me and he asks me if I know why he pulled me over, I‘m honest and say “umm yes i was going fast”. He asks how fast I think I was going, I say “I have no idea” and he shows me his radar, 95mph, to which I say “oh”. Thinking that honesty would maybe help me out a little bit and he would maybe write me a civil ticket instead of a criminal speeding ticket got me nowhere! I got cited for criminal speed!!!!!! Crap!!!! Damn, I wish I would have had my radar detector on!!!!!!!!!

I agree, I think the range is like a mile and a half which is great!! It saved me as well many times while traveling on the highways..I guess I need to use it in the city as well:)..

Got city I'd say V1 with JBV1 would be best since you can really dial in the frequency and eliminate alot of false alerts that's what I miss most about V1

Sounds expensive. State laws vary but at that speed none are cheap. Do you have any other speeding tickets? In FL the third is a charm:
. For a third or subsequent violation, this is classified as a third-degree felony in Florida with a mandatory fine of $5000 and losing your driver's license for 10 years and up to 5 years in prison.

Damn, hate to see a DUI issue in Florida if a few speeding tickets cost you your license for 10 years. Seems a little harsh for the crime.

It’s a class 3 misdemeanor in Arizona and three points on your license. I believe it or not have never had a speeding ticket before or anything criminal, this is the first time. Apparently the City of Phoenix prosecutor will, most of the time, drop it down to civil and sometimes even offer you driving school which would be no points on your license. With it being criminal traffic, they do have the option to arrest you and take you to jail instead of cite but I am sure that’s reserved to people that are being jerks or who have other criminal traffic on their records. Keeping my fingers crossed It gets dropped down!!

Thankfully I wasn’t in Florida!!!!!!

  • Minimum fine of $1000 up to $2000. ...
  • Imprisonment up to 9 months. ...
  • Mandatory imprisonment for not less than 10 days if your 2nd DUI conviction occurs within 5 years of the date of a prior DUI conviction.
  • 180 days to 1 year probation.
  • Maximum 5 year driver's license revocation.
Not as bad as it seems. It comes off your record after 75 years.

I was in a deep south Louisiana gas station when I asked about radar detectors. Apparently the practice there is called bird doggin'.

Escort Max 360c with App, and Waze....of course this is AFTER I already received my first ticket in years and years. Going to pick up a Uniden R7 and probably a jammer this year as well.

I'd love to get some of that radar absorbing paint as well but........

R7 Is pretty good but I think best combo is V1+JBV1. But if just want standalone then I'd take R7 over anything available until Theia is released.

I have a V1 that I used with my last car, I've had it for years with updates.

The V1 has been out of stock for months now with the explanation from Valentine of an unavailability of parts. Losing ground..make no mistake I loved my V1 and it has saved me loads of times over the years but the technology has moved forward and V1 isn't at the top atm. The Uniden R7 and EscortMax 360 has taken the crown by a good bit.

The V2 is in the works and hopefully it will return Valentine to the top of the Radar Detector scene when it eventually comes out. Even though I have an Escort Max 360c I think the Uniden R7 is probably the best choice at this time, its cheaper, better supported than the Escort, the reason i'm holding off on getting it is Uniden has a new top tier detector in the works for 2020 or maybe just an update. I will wait a few months before I decide on the best solution.

Again i'm not knocking the V1 I have it, but with a bright red car I want as much warning as I can get and the Escort Max and Uniden are doing a better job from all the reviews I have looked at.
