  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 Genesis 4.6 V8. I need to replace by 8 year old tires that have 41,000+ miles on them. Looking for a quiet and smooth riding tire. Any help would be great. Thanks Marty

What kind of climate? Is snow a consideration?

I have Michelin Energy Saver A/S P235/50 R18 97V. They are O K, but I am looking for a better tire that is quiet and smooth riding.

I liver in Southern Calif. (L.A.)
What is the lowest temperature you get during winter months in Southern California?

I was at Costco today and talk to the tire man their, he recommended Michelin # 1 rated Primacy touring tire. He said it would be quiet and smooth riding tire. With an 55,000 mile warranty. Sale price out the door is $940.02. It is an upgrade to the Original Equipment Energy Saver A/S with a 40,000 mile warranty, I have now. L.A. lowest temperature gets around F. 35

I am also looking for a tire recommendation, I live in the Philly area. I have owned a 2012 Genesis 3.8 for over two years and shortly after I bought it, I had a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires installed. After putting around 22,600 miles on them, it looks like I am almost down to the wear indicators.

I am happy with the handling, ride and low noise of this tire, but never in my life did I replace tires after this low number of miles. I went back to the dealer and they said I would need proof of two tire rotations and one alignment before they would apply the pro rate warranty.

All the stop and go in philly would be my guess why they are worn out already. Heavy car in the city. I would stick with the extreme contacts. IMO

My experience with Michelins is that treadlife always exceeded equivalent competitive UTOG ratings. I've gotten 33k+ miles on each of 3 sets of Pilot Super Sports on my two 4.6 sedans over the last 10 years. My commute for the last 10 years was: 10 miles each way averaging 25 miles per hour with 10 stoplights.

The Pilot Sport 4S replaced the Pilot Super Sport a few years ago, and I now have MPS4S's on my '12.

YMMV

I'm at 67,000 miles on my '09 and I'm about to get my 6th set of tires on my car this season:) Michelin finally makes a tire in my size 245/45/19, so I'm going with the Pilot Sport 3 at $218/tire.

I had Pilot Super Sport 3 for three summer seasons, and now have Pilot Sport 4S for the second summer season. 4S is probably the best summer tier.

Good call on the 4S tires, I wish they had them available for my tire size. The Sport 3's are the first Michelin summer tire finally available in a 245/45/19, so I'm excited to get a set of Michelin's on.

Did you put aftermarket wheels on your '09 Genesis?

I bought a set of R-Spec wheels from another forum member back in 2012 or 2013 and I run summer rubber since I don't drive it in the winter.

You can get the PS4 in that size ... which isn't that far off from the 4S. I did a BMW driving experience last year and they were running the PS4 on the 330i autocross circuit cars. They had plenty of grip.

Conti sucks. Had same DWSs on my 5.0. Developed sidewall failures after 25K plus high wear. Went Mich 3+ and have never looked back. They appear to probably wear out about 30-35K of hard running, but Tire Rack said don't worry, will credit about 45-50% against tire warranty when I get a new set. Okay deal by me because of their superior handling performance, even in heavy rain & light snow.
