In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Dear Genesis owners

have you ever faced this problem when you try to go and you EBP holds you from going and not releasing?

im from saudi arabia and many people in saudi arabia face this problem including tires problem because its Dunlop

and if you face that what is the solution to manual release it ?

Thank you

No issue with mine. According to the manual to release the EPB simply place the Engine Start/Stop button in the On position and process the brake pedal.

To release the EPB automatically:

1) - Shift the lever in P (Park).
With the engine running, depress the brake pedal and shift out of P (Park to R (reverse) or D (drive).

2) - Shift level in N (Neutral).
With the enginer running, depress the brake pedal and shift out of N (Neutral) to R (reverse) or D (drive).

3) - Satisfy the following conditions.
a). Start the engine.
b). Fasten the drivers seat belt.
c). CLose the drivers dorr, engine hood and trunk.
d). Depress the accelerator pedal while the shift lever is in D (Drive) or Sports mode.

It also states that when the EPB does not release to contact the dealer.

We tried all that but not working the only solution we do is to remove the fuses of the entire system then install it again and that restarts the system and release the EBP

Those are the fuses

Could you please also describe the Dunlop issue, because Im with such tires.

Dunlop tires are bad they only goes only 12000 miles not more than that in the

best situations they explode and then it damage your car these tires are making problems not only to genesis even with BMW 6 series because it equipped with it

Mr. Uchiha madara
I have the same problem.
Is the way you mentioned "Removing the fuses" safe?
Did you try it ?
please help me , I can't move my car an inch because of this problem.

Since my initial post I actually had this issue happen to me. I work less than a 1/2 mile from my dealer. They came by and hooked some contraption to my car and cleared the code and was able to drive it back to the dealer. After keeping it for a week they could not re-create the issue and I have not had it happen again. I would recommend doing what was noted above. Can't hurt and it will eliminate the need to go to the dealer. Simply rebooting the system seems to do the trick.

I removed the two fuses you pointed at in your picture and reinstalled them, but nothing happeed.
The problem still there.
Should I remove the fuses while the engingine runing or off?
Please help.

I would never remove a fuse with the car running, but maybe he did. I would pull the fuses (with car shut off). Start the car and let it run a few minutes then shut off and wait 15- 30 minutes. Then re-install the fuses and restart the car to see if that does the trick. Let us know how you make out.

I tried the way mentioned by "Uchiha madara" once again and it worked successfully this time.
The trick is to keep the engine running during the removal of the fuses.

The steps are as follows:
1. Start the engine.
2. Remove the fuses ( Two green fuses at the bottom of the fuse board)
3. Stop the engine.
4. Restart it again.
5. Engage the brake.
6. Stop the engine.
7. Reinstall the fuses.
Your car now is back to normal and you can drive it without any problem.

Thank You for the follow-up. I copied and pasted your sequence and emailed it to myself so I will have it for reference in case this ever happens to me again. Did you need to use a fuse removal tool or are you able to extract them just with your fingers.

The electronics are fried... If you are trying to just get the car usable again, pull the back tires off, grab bolt cutters and cut the black EPB cable that heads to the center of the car. It will release the lock from the failure and you can use the car again... there will only be no parking brake so if parking on inclines.. rest all weight of car on the curb to take pressure off of the transmission

Wow, rather then fixing the actual problem, eliminate the parking brake, the emergency brake, and the auto hold feature...
I'll pass.

joegr... I don't think so. Provide a source on that one because most cars use the anti-lock system to hold the brakes. The EPB would take a beating if used in traffic.

From the Genesis owners manual.

Yes, you are correct, I was a little mixed up on that. However, Auto hold disables if the EPB fails. (This is why I assumed it was being used.) I have also noticed that it doesn't seem to ever be offered in any cars that don't have EPB. Maybe this is some sort of safety, since there are a number of conditions that cause the car to go from auto hold to parking brake. I guess that if EPB weren't there, the brakes might release and let the car roll.

I am going to stick to my assertion that killing the EPB will also kill/disable the auto hold feature. Who wants to try it to find out?

Well that's different! That's nice to know. Thanks for the info. I use my EPB whenever on a incline. I think using parking brakes often keeps the linkage/cables happy. Every vehicle I own I use parking brake.
My EPB failed... to get it moving I cut the cables on both sides... my Auto Brake still works, so as it may be tied to the EPB... it is not used BY it.
