  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A new software update is available for GV80 and G80(2021). Map version looks to be the same with the one car came with, as well as the firmware.canada.webpUSA.webp

I did the update for my GV80, took approx. 45 min to update.

No new features(at least for Canada), the only difference is in responsiveness of the infotainment system and the sound system seems to better (might be my impression). The voice recognition looks to be improved, now can set the address as destination for the navigation system. Previously was intermittent, sometimes could not set. This is all I checked so far. Maybe are other improvements as well.

Was that an 'over the air' update?

hi did you use the navigation update software? and how much usb space do you need?

Yes.
Update is approx 17.1GB
That is awesome news, thanks. I had no clue Genesis provided downloadable FW and/or navigation library updates for owners to deploy themselves. (Assumed it was either FOTA or else we’d need the dealer’s service department to do it.)

From what website did you download this ~17GB file?

Official Genesis Navigation Update Website

you need to download the navigation update software to your pc and then update through that

I’m attempting to download the update now to a flash drive. My first attempt failed. I’m a little disappointed, I understood the GV80 was suppose to accept OTA updates.

Update: The download to the flash drive worked the second time. I'll download the update to the GV80 tomorrow.

Got the ~17GB file saved to a USB stick. But when I started the upload in my GV80 it stuck at 0% for more than 10 mins straight (see attached).

Removed the USB and tried two more times but got the same result, so I gave up. Hope you have more luck tomorrow!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It is not stuck. It's taking long to see the progress. I forgot to mention....
Looking at the downloaded files majority are archives. Looks like the system decompress them once the installation starts.

Do you have to keep the car on and running while updating? Thanks.

Yes. Engine on. I kept engine on but I did not drive. Once update starts are same messages about systems being temporarily unavailable.

Has anyone found changes after installing?

Thanks for this information. Did Genesis let you know about it or ? I had a previous car with updates like this and it was annoying that, although I had three years of free Nav updates, it was up to me to check regularly to discover if an update existed. Still beats the hell out of Porsche wanting $650 an update but still :)

As I mentioned

No. I'm checking regularly for updates/ new software, etc.

I successfully downloaded the files to my MacBook. No luck in transferring from there to a USB stick. I did format the USB to FAT32 and I can see why it refused to accept one of the files which is hugely over the maximum file size of 4 Gb which applies to the FAT32 file system. I can decompress that file to create files which will go to the USB, but there is no suggestion I should do this. Any ideas?

Format as ExFAT. Should work.

I used the Navigation Updater program on my PC, which is how the update is supplied in the US. Once you install the Navigation Updater on your PC the program downloads the update, formats the USB stick and copies the files to the USB stick. Requires zero technical knowledge or ability. Is this option (available from Official Genesis Navigation Update Website) not available in Canada for some weird reason?
