2010 Price Paid

Hi. New to the forum.

Wife is new owner of a 2010 V6 black/black with premium and nav. Searched 7 months around Chicagoland for this engine and style.

MSRP 38,350
Paid 33,500 + T&T (included the 1500 competitor car coupon and 400 graduation rebate)

Dealer increased trade-in value of 12 year old honda accord to make sale happen, so net was less than 29,500.

Satisfied.

I wanted a lease for 3 years., no plans to keep it. Residual on Hyundai 52%, residual on g37x 64%. that right there made a big difference in payments. I also wanted to trade in, hyundai wouldnt give me more than 9500 for my 2003 ml 350, bluebook (trade in) stated 11k, wholesale was 12k. infiniti gave me 10.5k (i owe 11k).

i liked the space and feel of the genesis, reminded me of a e class benz.. it had power but not a sporty transmission... at the end of the day, the infiniti is what i wanted and the pricing made it work out.

If only hyundai would release a SUV that competed with the ML /GL that benz has id pick one up tomorrow.

Did you check out the Veracruz. Hyundai benchmarked the Lexus LX350 when they designed it and it gets great reviews.

Decided to get the 2009 for the savings. 3.8 w/tech 36,884 including sales tax, license plates 1500 rebate from Hyundai. Love the new car B/B!

For leasing, the residual value signifies the amount you will pay down to on your vehicle. Thus, if you buy a 100k car, the residual in 3 years is 52%, you would owe 48%, plus the interest (also known as money factor)


In this scenario, I think infiniti had a slightly larger interest rate and less room to get bargain from the MSRP, so your payments shouldn't really be that far off.

That is pretty good resale for the Infiniti...but you had to pay $2K over MSRP?

I like the G37...a lot, but we needed a car we could comfortably fit our friends in when going out to dinner and 4 inches less of rear leg room took the G37 out of the equation.

We picked up our Premium Plus '09 Genesis for $31,5K. The MSRP was $35,250, according to Edmunds. That would be about a $13K drop over a 2 year lease, given your 52% quote. According to my calculations, that would be about a $635 monthly payment (including tax and delivery charges.)

The Infiniti should be about $14,8K over the same time period....or about $680 a month.

We bought ours and are keeping it for at least the 5 year warranty. KBB has a residual of 26% then, so we are looking at about $390/month (we financed $20K @ 4% but will probably pay it off early.) Having said that, I can't imagine only being able to sell it, with 60K on the odom, for $9,100 in 5 years. Heck, last year I paid about $12,000 for our 6 year old Acura TL with the same mileage, and KBB puts the value of it, now at $9,800. The private party value of a 5 year old Lincoln LS is $9,800, according to Kelly. If they are going for that price, in 5 years, I'll buy another used one! The reality is, if it is still driving nice, we'd keep it for 7 or 8 years, at least. That is when you really start saving money....when the resale value curve starts to flatten out. The value will only drop a few more thousand.

I believe i paid $38.2 for g37x + navi + sport + premium.. it was 500 below invoice and they paid 1st year dmv ($530).. so i guess you could say its a $1000 below invoice

I have no idea why i did not always lease. I drive my cars hard and fast. while trying to stay as much in the legal limit as possible; which may be 40% of the time.

I would say the g37 is a 2 seater with optional room for an uncomfortable + 3. I drive 2 miles to work., thats pretty much the only time i get out and drive., so for me its a toy.

In my calculations i was comparing a 10 with a 10.. apples to apples the deals were failing.. I had a ml350 that i owed 11k on,. i wanted them to just trade it in... they gave me 10.5.. hyundai wanted to give me 9200 for it...

so for me., the g37 with its quick shifts and speed., worked for me.

Our local Hyundai dealer has three '09's on the lot right now, V8 with tech package for $36,999. Sign says $5000 off. That is an incredible price.

Bingo. I'm still happy with the $31,500 I paid there for the V6, but that is a great price. I guess the V6's are selling better than the 8's. I suspect part of the issue is climbing above $40K for a Hyundai. It will be interesting seeing how the Equus fairs at $50K plus.

Need Advice on possible purchase of "09" Genesis

I am looking at possibly purchasing an "09" V-6 Genesis left over at my local dealer.

1. It has approx 300 miles on the odometer

2. It has black leather interior

3. Has the premium package w/18" rims

The asking price is $30,995

What do you guys think? Is it a good deal or can I wheel and deal with them a little more on the price?

I went to the hyundai website to see what the interior is called, and when I tried to build one to compare prices and features the only available option on the website was cashmere or saddle? Didn't find any option on interior color for black? Was that discontinued for 2010?

Also can somebody explain to me what the suspension issues are that I have been reading about on the forum? If so what was changed suspension wise for 2010?
