  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone have any luck sourcing a trailer hitch for the GV70?

My Canadian Genesis dealer installed my trailer/tow hitch on Tuesday. They did not have the trailer wiring harness available. I'm currently using mine to support a 2-bike rack, but plan to also use it for a small utility trailer.
With the bikes on the rack my GV70 kept applying the brakes when I attempted to reverse, a function of the "Forward/Reverse Parking Distance Warning" system. I have not tested this yet but I believe shifting into reverse and then pressing and holding the "Parking Safety button" for 2 seconds will allow me to back up without the warning sounds and brakes being applied.

What hitch was installed? Was it a Genesis brand or off brand made for the GV70?

Yes, would love to know who made it. I want the hitch so I can more easily haul my bikes.

It's a Genesis brand trailer hitch and you can see the Genesis logo on the right hand side of the hitch. A photo is attached. A 2"rubber inset is included but I don't have it on in this picture. IMG_1160.webp

Is there a part number anywhere on it? It kinda looks like a Curt hitch. I had emailed them about 2 weeks ago asking if they were going to make one for the GV70 and never received a reply.

Invoice shows “ARH03-AP000 Trailer Hitch”. You can find it on the Canadian web site (www.genesis.ca).

If anyone finds this here in the states, please post link here, thanks.

Any chance we can get a picture of this from further back? Wanted to see how it looks overall. Thanks!

Hopefully this picture is a little better. With bikes on the rack I definitely needed to press and hold the "Parking Safety button" for 2 seconds in order to backup without the brakes being applied. Unfortunately I was not able to turn off the warning sound.

Can you do a photo with the bike rack on? Or with just the hitch, but showing the whole rear of the car?
Thanks!

I've attached two pictures which I hope will help. This is the Genesis GV70 trailer hitch. The bike rack is the: "SportRack Crest Platform 2-bike Hitch-mounted Rack" available from Costco.ca. With the rack mounted without bikes in place there is no impediment to opening the hatch. With bikes on I need to pull one pin and change the rack angle from vertical to 45 degrees in order to open the hatch.

As mentioned above I need to press and hold the "Parking Safety button" for 2 seconds in order to turn off the "reverse parking collision avoidance assist". Without turning this off the GV70 automatically applies the brakes as it senses something behind the car. Unfortunately the backup warning alarm still sounds. I've found pressing and holding this button is inconsistent so if anyone has found a better way please let everyone know.

Good photos. How about one with no rack, just a photo of the whole rear of the car to show how the hitch looks from a distance, not close-up.
Thanks again for the photos.

As requested one more picture.
As you can see I don't believe everyone needs to see my license plate.
As discussed above I've had problems backing up when I have the bike rack mounted as the car will brake and sound an alarm. In yesterday's bike trip a single press of the "Parking Safety Button" worked well and even turned off the backup alarm. I'm pretty sure I had tried this several times in the past without success and that's why I had resorted to a "long press" on this button. In any case I now shift into reverse and press the "Parking Safety Button" (which turns off the button's light) and I can back up without any issues.
The Genesis GV70 trailer hitch works well for me.

Thanks so much for the last photo. I was wondering if the rack hits the ground at all? It seems lower than on my Outback.
I checked today with my local shop and no go on that part here in the States, yet.

drjsg - i have yet to have the rack hit the ground.

Any chance you could measure the distance from the ground to the inner surface of the 2" receiver.

Thanks

26 cm / 10.25 inches to the Inner surface of the 2" receiver, 25 cm / 9.8 inches to the outer surface as measured on a flat surface in my garage.
