  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Bluelink shutting down service

Received and email that basically says they're going to do nothing

I think a similar issue is happening with other brands as well.

Done. Just emailed them. Everyone who owns a genesis or hyundai that is affected needs to email them, and if you know anyone who owns an affected vehicle, have them shoot them an email as well. Hopefully, if they get enough feedback, they'll consider something.
email sent .....

There are tens of thousands of vehicles affected. If we let Hyundai know how disappointed and dissatisfied we are, they will do something in our favor to reduce the pressure. My family has purchased 5 over the years and if they don’t act in the affirmative we will not buy any more Hyundai’s.

Yes. As I said in my email, this could be very damaging to the hyundai brand if they don't handle it correctly (which they aren't) The fact that they say they build their cars to "last" and a feature is just inoperable after only 2-3 years is unacceptable. 2-3 years is not long for a car.

Stated similar in my email. I'm on my fifth.

Genesis should have done something to prevent most of this since 4G goes back to 2010.

I wonder what the future will be not just for Genesis, but technology in all cars. The basics have not changed in running gear, we can still get spark plugs for decades old cars. CD players are mostly gone, tape players long gone. Will Bluetooth be outdated?

If someone can come up with a plug in converter, many of us would be interested

There's another thread on this. I'm still trying to determine which 2019s are affected.

It's ridiculous that a 2019 car would be affected by a solution that was out there in 2010.

Looking at all affected vehicles, a bunch of manufacturers are in the same boat as Hyundai is. Honda has some 2020 and 2021 affected vehicles which is really ridiculous even though it appears those might be updatable. Tesla is updatable going back to 2015 with a new modem at minimum cost. Some manufacturers had 2019s affected. To me any vehicle less than 3 years old should be upgradable at a reasonable cost and manufacturers were just lazy in ensuring vehicles could stay up to date with cell systems. Forced obsolescence and car devaluation is just wrong.

I believe only the 2019 G80s are affected. G70s and G90s are fine I believe. (can confirm with g90 because my 2018 uses LTE).

My 2019 G80 says LTE for the network mode, is that going to work? I think some 19s might be okay if that's the case. See below.

Could you please post it picture of your 2018 G90 screen where it shows LTE.
Thanks

By the way I read it, yes.
No.

I received the e-mail and I have a 2015 Genesis using 3G CDMA.

My post was from a year ago, talking about those vehicles with BlueLink ending at the end of 2021.

I got the letter. My 2019 G80 Ultimate that I bought new on January 2, 2019, has only this when I go to look for modem information under connected services. Apparently, I was penalized for buying a new car when they introduced it. But it's the last time I'll buy Genesis.

How did you get to that menu? Is it hidden? It looks like it's some type of android operating system. Is that the lower end non ultimate HU or the Ultimate one? Because it's possible one of them used LTE and the other used 3G?

So, after sending me the email saying my 2019 Genesis Ultimate will no longer be able to have any of the connected services features after 12/2022, Genesis decided to add insult to injury by sending me an email telling me about all the connected services features. The first page is attached. And this is supposed to be a luxury brand? I'll be dumping my Genesis and shopping elsewhere.
