  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New System and MAP Update v16 in May

Thanks I update the software a little while ago. It took about an hour and 10 minutes to complete. I love that I can now reorder the presets.

Now they just need to add alerts to SiriusXM so my favorite artists and songs pop up when they are on like it does in Infiniti vehicles. I miss this feature a lot.

Also an update to add wireless Apple Car Play would be great. It can be done because my wife’s Infiniti 2021 QX50 received an update at the dealer in October to go from wired to wireless Car Play.

The G80 radio had the alerts but lost the ability to reorder the presets last upgrade.

To add wireless CP you have to have compatible hardware to go along with the software.
Mr. Google says:
Wireless CarPlay needs Bluetooth and in-vehicle Wi-Fi to work properly. But that's not all. Your car actually also needs to have a dual-band router built-in to allow for CarPlay. That's why many vehicles with both in-vehicle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity don't support the Apple infotainment system

Why is it taking you to the sxm preview station? Is it cause there's no subscription or something? Just wondering. There's a place where you can hide radios, I think I hid AM altogether..
No, my sxm works, but the station was one of my presets after the update. In fact all my old presets were deleted! Anyway, I found the delete function and got rid of them.

I've had 3 different people ask the car to "Find..." numerous places and 98% of the time she is totally wrong in what she "finds" or she says "Sorry, I didn't understand you". Worst voice system I've ever used.
When I first got my '19 G80, the voice commands worked very well. I was quite impressed. In the last two map updates it's gone to hell. I can't get it to find the closest McDonald's. Looking forward to the new update.

Perhaps it is trying to improve your eating habits. Try Five Guys instead.

Anyone experiencing issues downloading the update to the SD card? I am using my existing SD card which is about 29GB but says this update requires an SD card with a recommended 38GB.
I think this statement needs some clarification. Based on your post I bought a 64GB card before starting the download/update.

The update tool says you need 38GB hard drive space. It does not state that you need an SD card that size. I suspect you were trying to download the files directly to the card.

The correct procedure is to download the files to your computer. Once that step is complete you'll be prompted to install the SD card and the tool will transfer the files onto the card.

Back to the 64GB card. This cannot be used. The tool states that FAT32 formatting must be used but cards larger than 32GB cannot be formatted in FAT32. You must use a 32GB card.

Thanks for your response. I have been downloading the updates directly to the SD and it has worked until now. I did reach out to tech support and they said what you are mentioning which is to download first to a computer then to the card. I was able to download and install the update over the weekend. This was their response to my question: 1651502152171.webp

Am about to do the update just for the sole reason of getting rid of those tubes. Not because I don't like their look but because they are not as practical as the previous screen they replaced. My aging eyes prefer larger fonts for station/song info as opposed to the station number itself.

Before I do the update can someone tell me if the number of presets have increased and what other notable changes have been made. Thanks,

I’m not sure about the number of presets I can check when I get back in my car.

One thing they could have done in this refresh was to make the name of the artist and the song name bigger and it is actually smaller than before. In channel list view it is somewhat bigger but then you lose the album art. They want to emphasize the channel number in both versions when in my opinion the artist and song name should dominate the screen. At least we can now rearrange our presets that’s an improvement.

Looks like they pulled the update for Gen 5, and 5W. I wonder what's the issue

They’ve been doing this lately with the last couple of releases. And also only opening up the ordering to a couple of days per week for the SD cards.
Yeah, they can't seem to get things right first shot. I didn't have any issues updating though.

Do you need to keep your Guidance subscription active to get this map update?

One of the features of the Guidance subscription is "MULTIMEDIA & NAVIGATION UPDATES".

So we need a USB 3.0 that's exactly 32GB, no more and no less, to install this? Seems weird lmao.

It depends on which model and year you have. You don't list that, so I can't say. Some models/years require a 32 GB SD card. Some models require USB. I'm sure those are fine with larger than 32GB, though maybe not the terabyte ones. I know mine is okay with 128 GB. I don't think that USB 3 is required, and possibly might be no advantage over USB 2, for this.

I was the one who earlier posted that the software wouldn't accept a 64GB SD card. My 2019 G70 requires an SD card. I can't speak to any vehicle that may require USB

Apparently for full screen Android Auto, you have to open the app on your phone, enable developer options in the app by scrolling down and tapping the version multiple times. Then, 3 dots at the top right go in dev settings and set video resolution to 1280x720.

Has anyone tried this? I did this, and it didnt seem to do anything. AA is still not full screen :(
