  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Pricing Estimations

Just got a pricing confirmation by email from my dealer in the Greater Montreal area.

Advanced : $71000
Performance : $79000

I suppose that means no subsidy !

Those prices may be what they need to make to turn a profit, but yikes, they are out of step with other options out there!

Financing rates:

24 – 48 month @ 3.90%
60 – 72 month @ 4.40%
84-month @ 4.90%

I doubt it. If this is just to turn a profit then there taking a bath on every EV6 or Ioniq they sell and genesis won’t sell enough to compensate for 10k lost on every vehicle sold by the parent company. This is just simply they believe there will still be 600 people to fill the maximum order sheet for the first year since they have 1500+ pre orders for 600 cars. Seems short sighted in my humble opinion to purposely loose 60% of your customer base but in the short term it maximizes income and still sells out

Is that confirmed? If so....brutal. For a supposed luxury vehicle, between the ridiculous waiting game for prices and lack of communication of what options are included in Canadian models, they sure treat their early adopters poorly.

I know this isn't the right thread or forum for this but I know the Canadian business tax credits for EVs was briefly discussed earlier. Has anyone does this in the past and will the GV60 be eligible for this on a lease or finance? Up to the 55k max or whatever it is?

Yes it will. Keep in mind the rules behind business usage of a vehicle and how seriously the CRA cracks down on some people they believe are taking advantage of the system. That said, any vehicle that falls in the ZEV category in Canada including those above 55k can still claim up to the 55k portion of the vehicle if that applies to you.

Yes the GV60 would be eligible for class 54 capital cost allowance for electric vehicles. You can claim up to 100% of $55,000 plus sales tax in the first year. This would also be prorated on the basis of personal vs business use. That percentage is determined by how many of the total miles you drove for business vs personal in the claimed tax year. The capital cost allowance will begin to be phased out beginning in 2024.

Great, thanks guys for the quick response.

It looks that Genesis won’t steal any new customers soon by pricing their cars comparable to the Germans.

And yes, luxury has an added value, but must come with a prestigious name like Porsche for example. In addition, German luxury comes with performance which includes a good handling besides the 0-60 time given by an extra electric motor. That’s why you see more Porsche on the streets than Genesis. Personally, I’ve seen one Genesis so far. Maybe because I live in downtown and “luxury cars” are more common to the countryside.

Look what happened to Alfa Romeo playing with no competitive pricing. They’ve got some aficionados at the beginning and then radio silence. That might happen with Genesis too. Sell few GV60 to some origami lovers and then wait their recognition forever.

And don’t think Tesla will have a different outcome if they don’t address the quality issues. At least for now they’ve earned the mob popularity.

Genesis didn’t even bother to make a decent website where you can see properly the cars they try to sell. I know Covid and inflation took people’s minds, but one will always put in perspective the resale value of a new car. That why Ioniq 5 and EV6 sell like mushrooms, for the good value after Government rebates and not for their “prestigious” names.

I know it can be worst thinking of C40 from Volvo which will sell none in Canada but as Hyundai they came up with Polestar 2 which looks like a good deal now.

For the $1000 deposit, I will probably still go visit the Genesis dealership ones in a lifetime and check the GV60 in flesh and then “Time to Say Goodbye”!

What the hell…

There was no lease option just a few minutes ago, I believe they are just updating it as we speak. I'm sure the rates will be changed soon.

Not sure what kind of math geniuses they have at Genesis but my lease payment would be $1648 x 60 months 0% rate, so if you include my 1K deposit, my obligation would be 100K over 5 years, I guess they figure not only zero residual value after 5 years but I should toss in another 12 K for the privilege, wtf.

im pretty mad about my deposit. I asked the dealer if i could get unyuni white with white interior and they said yes and took my deposit. I even clarified i was ok with matte paint if it meant getting the white interior. However I just looked and its been updated to the black interior. The white interior sold me on the car super annoyed at my dealer right now

I got the same email. What a mess. Clearly something wrong here. Oh, and we are only allowed to experience the joy ride for 20,000 km annually.

I would assume there is a mistake or this is some type of ‘lease to own’ type of program that Genesis have created. This simply eliminates me from buying this car if this is correct.

The website is continuing to evolve. There was a bunch of stuff added this morning. Give it a few more days before relying on too much.

to lease a BMW i4M50 at $994/month looks to me a better deal than GV60 at $1470/month, or I'm missing something here.
Maybe will make sense if you add two plastic lions on your porch to fit with your "luxurious" GV60.
