If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 5.0 losing all power intermittently 4 times now. 31500 miles- Battery 2.5 years old
1st time drove car to get gas when I hit start button to restart after fueling everything went totally dead. Opened trunk with key to check battery connection and tails lights flashed, then car started, never touched anything.

2nd time was when I got back home hit start button to turn car off, dead, Got meter checked batt voltage 12.43vdc. Closed trunk, still dead. About a minute later fob buttons worked car started.

3rd time wife drove car approx 15 miles shut off no problem. 2 hours later hit start button to leave -Dead. Would not start. I went and tried to jump the car(from under hood connections). When I put cables on full power but no start. Went to batt to check cables, messed with ground on battery, full power car started drove home no issues. I thought bad ground. Next day removed ground from battery, cleaned and re tightened pinch terminal. Removed connection to trunk floor, wired wheeled the 1/8 inch of primer down to bare metal reattached ground.

4th time wife drove car to work no issues, then drove home hit start button;dead. She said she got out hit the lock button on fob power back car started. Checked battery this am and 12.28vdc so doesnt seem to be a drain on the batt.

Are there more grounds that I should be checking? If so where? Any suggestions before I take it to the dealer to go through the WE CANT DUPLICATE....... Thanks in afdvance

My father's 5.0 had a loose buss bar connection in the main fuse panel under the hood causing all sorts of electrical issues. I think there are 3 10mm nuts under there...make sure they are all tight.

Update: So I couldn't take it. Started over checking all connections to and from the battery. I found that the pinch-clamp for the neg battery terminal was not getting tight enough to hold , if I used some force I could turn the clamp. I took the clamp totally apart to inspect the underside of the clamp and wedge bolt that is supposed to pull clamp together, I found a washer on the underside of the clamp that was stopping the wedge from fulling pinching the clamp. I also noticed it looked like at one point the washer was on the top as I could see indentation on clamp. I moved the washer to the top and what a difference it made as far as tightness.. When I purchased the car part of the deal was a new battery because it was dead the very first time I looked at the car. They must have put it back together wrong. I am hoping, but it seems that the problem would have surfaced sooner than 33 months of owning it. I will update on findings.

Update:
Several trips and no problems so far after fixing the neg battery terminal. Fingers crossed

Good to hear. My first thought was a grounding problem and that may have fixed it.

Good job man. Sucks that you had to deal with it.

Ok so more trips with numerous starts and stops with no problem. I believe this has solved my issue. Ill only update if the problem returns.

It happened again so that is obviously not it. Dealer time.

Damn. Hate to hear that. I Hope you find resolution soon. Please keep updating along the way, it's great to have all this info!

Any update on this?

Start with the basics. Cables grounds battery, ends ,buss bar. Run through the basics and maybe you will find something? Good luck.

Yeah the dealer ran through that and found no issues. No power is getting to the OBD2 port even

Unplug the battery management sensor on the negative lead, wait a few seconds, then reconnect. Chances are pretty good you'll need a new negative cable on the battery.

any updates ?

Replace the fusible link box on the battery. I had the exact same issue and progressively got worse. Replaced the part and no problems since.

Any problems since you replaced the fusible link (FL) box?
Other threads (users with same problems) have described
a) physical space issues between the FL box and the top of the battery (shims applied to correct)
b) internally cracked fuse in the FL box
I am just wondering how your fix action has held up.

Check out this video, the perfect fix for mine. Essentially, shim the positive post of the battery terminal.
