Just out of curiosity, what all is involved with cracking an ecu? Do they use eeprom chips and you would just need to figure out the encryption or is it more sophisticated now? I used to have a Subaru and I use some open source tuning software called Rom Raider, sounds like it would be nice if there was a community driven option.

Nice to finally see a decent aftermarket push from the owners. I for one am super happy with my ECU tune from 10fintec. My 100-200 kph times have improved by almost a full second and I can now pull on scat pack charger/challengers and manual 18+ mustangs. And that's all without the TCU tune which will help the top end even more.

He actually mentioned it in his comment. It is a Canadian company www.10fintec.com. They have a caned tune and also try to do a custom tune event once a year. Since the tuner is flown in from Korea they have not been able to host the event during covid.
The canned tune is similar to the one BTR used to sell.

Let me chime in, my car ran 12.9 bone stock on a 275 Michelin super sport tire +600 DA. Finn is right these cars can run sub 12 ETs on the Juice. Dude with the 125 shot got to post some numbers I'll invest in a 100 shot to get my car into the high 11's.

Have you followed up with new drag results now that weather is great?

Unfortunately only the first gen ECU has been cracked so far. G80 will be a looooong way off, if ever.

That's too bad. Took it to the 1/8 mile track. Did 9.1 seconds. Found out you can't even brake torque it. Took it to 2500 RPMs and it shut it down to 1200, then delayed when I took off.

If that guy is maxbore out FL he can bore out your throttle body he did mine quick turnaround 82mm to 85mm you can have your intake ported by Bigdogs porting he is on facebook. I think are exhaust manifolds are cast I don't think you can weld on them. I have a 2013 rspec I think the newer models exhaust look like they would flow better.

Yes it was the guy at maxbore that said he couldn’t bore out my TB. I even bought a spare one to send down and just returned it when he said no. I’ll try again. Did you have your intake ported?

I had mine rebored by him went from 82mm to 85mm haven't had my intake manifold ported yet. Bought a x-pipe and paradox mufflers suppose to have very little drone going to get rid of the resonator and I have test pipes to replace the secondary cats.

Thanks for the info. I’ll give it another try. I have Magnaflow exhaust with 2nd cat deletes. Love it.

Oh Lee is for sure not retired lol he is very responsive too! I sent a video of my 4.18 rear diff swap acceleration asking a question about an issue that bothers me. Within minutes he responded to what the issue may be

I'm currently engine swapping my 3.8 with the 5.0. Will I have any issues with the 3.8 dif. The ECU and all modules are coming with the engine and trans?

Do you have any info on gearing between the 3.8 and 5.0

Yep, we're severely limited for suspension options. Tire compound, sidewall height/softness and the suspension are all more important to a point. Are you more interested in drag racing or auto-x/road course? The options you listed are about it aside from lowering it if you wanted to do that. If we didn't have electronic brake dragging LSD simulation and a nanny that cuts the power off if you spin 2 feet it would help. I have found a couple of options for traction but they are super expensive and would require swapping the rearend out for them both. Quaife makes a differential for the coupe rearend but it costs £858 ($1190) and Cusco MZ makes one for $2001.65

Edit - I emailed eaton a week ago to see if they had something that could be used in these cars but haven't heard anything back. I saw on another source that we have 30 spline axles and not 26.

You know you can pull the fuse to get esc and traction control nannies to go away completely.

Seems like tuning the actual ECU is out of the question. While it may not be as optimal, why can't we use a piggyback tune like the JB4? (Might butcher this) It is wired in between certain sensors and the ECU. It modifies some of the sensor readings tricking the ECU to control the engine differently. It may take some custom tuning, but wouldn't require cracking the ECU.

I got into contact with David Lee the tuner for Hyundai in South Korea. He is developing me
The worlds first nitrous tune for the 5.0 tau. I gave him my plans for the car as well like headers and intake etc... and we decided to pull 2° timing at wot for a 125 shot. I suspect total na gains to be somewhere around 20-30rwhp along with a safe tune to spray 125. As well as a transmission tune. All together I’m looking at safely adding 155 hp to my genesis wonder where that will set me at to the wheels total. Will find a dyno and post results when I get the tune (could take months as this is custom and the worlds first ((words of David Lee))

Did you ever hear back from him? I am interested in doing the same thing if possible? I have a 2013 Hyundai equus which is the genny 5.0 r spec
