  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

That looks really nice. Mine is Vik black and I am getting estimates for having the trim wrapped in black. Not sure whether to go with a matte or gloss. I wasn't going to do the chrome since it might be too much black, but it looks really good on yours.
There is satin which is in between the 2. I used it on the bottom on mine. Gloss for top only

It was lowered today and am all done with it. Tried to take quick pic in garage close to other one I took for reference. Much easier to get in ride seems unaffected so far and looks fantastic IMO. Ecstatic with result

I got sick of waiting for custom mats and picked up a Weathertech cut to fit cargo liner for $40 at Costco. It turned out pretty well.
I'll need to wait for custom floor mats as they are far superior to anything else.

Bro this looks so fire.

I have the exact same spec and I AM going to do this. My apologies lol.
Please do. I'll get new wheels next year to make mine more unique

That looks great. Makes me tempted to do the lower trim on our Himalayan gray. I'm watching some videos now for chrome deletes as I want to start with that.

On another note, does anyone know what 'paint' would be best to use to touch up the Advanced trim wheels? The driver of our vehicle curbed it the first week and I'm sick of looking at the gash :D It feels almost like a plastic.

Chrome delete isn't hard. You can buy 3m gloss black vinyl for cheap then just cut strip, apply and trim excess carefully around the chrome. Wife did so on her elantra hybrid. I had shop do it on mine as it was already getting wrapped on bottom

I got you beat on that one I curbed my son' s brand new Model Y within the first 30 minutes that he took delivery. The turn radius was a little more than I anticipated. In 40 + years of driving it was probably the first time I have curbed a wheel. God, I felt terrible, offered to buy him a new wheel. Fortunately we both felt better about it the next day. Needless to say I am not offering him the opportunity to return the favor on the GV60, lol.

I feel ya. Curbed the wife's hybrid elantras freshly powdercoated wheel and that car has awesome turning radius. It's always a 3 point turn in my GV60. It's an EV thing.i suspect

Longer wheelbase to fit batteries and improve weight to ground handling. Most evs with dedicated ev platforms seem to have the longer wheelbases now. Which automatically increases turning radius. From what I understand.
Benefits of space in backseat and extra battery capacity.

I would take some rear wheel steering to improve it. But I am not sure its all wheelbase, since my other vehicles have a longer wheelbase and turn tighter. I find it aggravating each time I need to park or tight turn.

Let's get crab walk like the GMC/Hummer stuff :-)

The Chevy Tahoe has a wheelbase that is 6 inches longer but has a turning circle that is 12 inches shorter! Genesis can do better with this as it aggravates me every day. The new Sierra EV will have a turning circle that is FOUR feet shorter due to the rear wheel steering!

Guess I should have mentioned the downfall of AWD 🤷🏼‍♀️😅. I'm lucky enough to have the option of a RWD GV60. That's a direct response to the available turn angle. Turning circle is a simple formular based purely on wheelbase, turn angle and tire width. Tire width impacts the least and usually makes little difference. Can't compare an ev to an ice...complete different build.

Everyone wants range and power...hence the push for more batteries and dual engines and AWD. There are downfalls....all I'm saying is you can't have it All...turning circle is the downfall in this scenario. Most evs struggle with the exact same issue. Its not a genesis issue. Its people understanding pros and cons.

Do you actually think they purposely make the turning circle big?

The wide turning radius is noticeable, but not significant enough to be a real grind. I notice the width of the car much more during daily driving (and parking).

I think they are not intentionally making it smaller. Since it's a simple formula as you noted above, they could simply improve the turn angle. Having it be so large in such a small vehicle is just bad design - unintentional or not. Wheelbase is wheelbase so ICE vs EV is not applicable. IF the motors are the issue, it could be solved as others are doing to improve it. And yes - I do want it all! :D

The way I understand it....the issue is pretty much only on dedicated ev platforms only, as other evs are just their ice skin with ev tech added into available space, so not an issue. I am assuming it's because of the motors positioning affecting the turn angle. I.e. they stretch out the wheelbase to accommodate the extra battery capacity. This in turns makes the motor compartment smaller and restricting the turn angle of the front tires. Rwd don't have this same space restriction. So what can they do about it... remove batteries, stretch out the front more and possibly affect wind drag and reduce efficiency. I agree over time designs will improve. But atm the priority is on battery capacity, efficiency and range ultimately. Maybe in a few years time 😅. When battery technology improves and the motors efficiency improves, charging infrastructure improves so range isn't so much a big deal. I wouldn't say it's bad design. It's a completely new market and they're still learning what's the bigger priorities to consumers.
