  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, all,

I recently purchased a GV70 and I’m pretty OCD. I’ve noticed the vehicle is relatively quiet, however, I have the larger rims and have moderate tire noise as expected. However, while on the highway, I’ve noticed some moderate wind noise on the exterior of the vehicle. It’s not particularly a whistle and doesn’t sound like there is an air gap, but I’m starting to believe it’s just the vehicles aerodynamic. I live in FL and regularly drive about 75-80 MPH on the interstate.

Have any of y’all experienced this? It varies depending on the time of the day and what I presume to be the wind condition / crosswind at the time.

Is this normal?

There is a little wind noise, and even CR noticed it during their review of the vehicle. Not loud, by any means.

FWIW - I have not noticed any issues. Mirrors would be the only thing I could think that could be an issue.

Some have complained about the hood vibrating at higher speeds. If you think it's that, you may be able to adjust the rubber posts underneath.

Assume windows are up / sunroof fully closed...or you'd get the red light every time you exit the car. I'd just make sure you don't have any pinched seals around the door and hatch openings.

Wait until you open the moon roof.

Yes, noticed it as well, but there were some pretty wicked cross winds when I first noticed it on the highway. Still could speak in normal voice and be hear by my passenger so it was more like background noise.

Weird thing about the noise; it reads on my watch at between 68 and 70 db. But the vehicle seems a little noisier than my wife's sedan that reads about the same. So I guess where on the frequency spectrum the noice occurs affects our perception of how loud the vehicle is on the road.

That said, NO complaints about the noise level in the car.

There are reviews that measured the noise and those showed mid 40s to low 50s...

Maybe, but at what speed? I was taking the readings between 70 ahd 80MPH. Sure, it's quieter at lower speeds, but what isn't?

75 mph

Yeah, who knows what equipment they use...the only reference I can find now says "65 db" (Car and Driver).

The difference between 50db and 65db is just huge. Oh, well.

Yeah, the earlier reviews obviously weren't on the highway, but according to any lists I can find the Genesis is at least #2 amongst luxury SUVs for low noise. I don't think you can get much better than this under $100K

I have noticed this and just bought GV70 1 month ago. Found it surprising since every review I read talks about how wind noise is minimal, but it's not in my vehicle. I think I will bring into dealer to see if they can adjust door?

Yeah, I notice a bit more wind noise than I think there should be.

It does need an aero trick to change that front Pilar noise.. it goes form super silent to. Blaaaa in an instant.

It is noisy. Any fixes??

Is it coming from lower down? I had one of the panels underneath the car lose a screw and it was flapping in the wind at a certain speed making a lot of noise. They replaced the whole panel.
